About 2 weeks ago we had our annual County Fair. One night during the fair a 26 year old carnival worker was arrested for sexual assault of minor for having sex (not sure if it was consenual or not, the newspaper never stated)with a 13 year old girl under the bleachers at the rodeo arena, which is at the Fairgrounds.
I was over visiting my neighbor the other day,who happens to be the mother of the Fair Board President. She had the newspaper article there and proceeded to ask me if I had heard about it. She then told me that "Well, what really happened wasn't anything lke what it said in the paper". Then she says "She may have only been 13, but X (Her son) says that she is as big as he is and looks like a grown woman". Hint, hint, hint, "It was her fault for how she looked".
NOT, "Why was this guy having sex with a woman he didn't even know?", NO 13 year I have EVER seen looks like a grown woman. Blame the girl. Her clothes were too tight!
Not, why couldn't he control himself? Blame the girl.
Why was she in the bar in the first place? Blame the woman.
Why did she take a ride from someone she didn't know? Not, what right did he have to force himself on her?
Look at how she is dressed, she is just ASKING to be raped. Is a man "asking to be raped" by another man for walking around provactively dressed? Imagine accusing a man of asking to be raped by another man becausee of how he is dressed. Sounds pretty stupid when you look at it that way huh?
A few nights ago on LINKTv I saw a documentary about a serial killer in Iran who targeted street women. A married man who took many of the women to his own home, had sex with some of them and killed them in his home while he wife was out. Most of the women they interviewed said the street women (many of whom were prostitues and drug abusers) were less than human and deserved to be killed. Even his wife and mother supported him until the end. His wife stated that any woman who would go off with a man she didn't know (As they did with her husband)deserved the DEATH PENALTY!
I notice this type of thinking alot with older women. Why are they so willing to let the men off and put so much blame on women for things?
Sometimes I wonder if it isn't the men who need their thinking changed but we woman who raise the boys to be men.
