If you just got your beta the change could be stressing him out - from the store to your home. Keep trying small amounts of food once a day. You can also try some pellet food. My beta won't eat flakes either but he loves this stuff.

Also make sure he is not been stressed out by other things at your home- direct light, noisy space, etc. Give him a couple of days more and really pay attention to his behavior. If he still isn't eating let us know how he's been acting so we can help you more.

Good luck! Hope he finds something he likes to eat.

Do you know what they fed him at the pet store? I think many places tend to feed their bettas pellets, because they are more easily regulated than flakes, and many betta parents also use pellets. If he's still not eating a few days from now, try some pellets, or ask the store what they feed their bettas.

Change is inevitable, except from a vending machine.

Bettas can go for a monh or more with out food. Just give him time to adjust, and keep trying different foods. Or, another school of thought is to keep offering the same food. Eventually, he will get hungry enough to eat it. Keep at it!

Any thoughts on if maybe my tank is too small? Its a tiny 1/2 gallon tank. I was thinking of buying a 2 gallon tank for him. What do you all think? Thanks!

A two gallon will be easier to moderate the temperature (which keeps him healthier) and filter. A good rule of thumb is: buy the biggest tank you can afford and fit into your house. Im sure your fish will love his new home.
