I know there are people out there with questions about comic books that have not answered in my articles yet or I may not think to write about. So I wanted to start a thread for the readers to ask any questions they may have about comics books of either me or the other readers.

Want a suggestion of what to read? Want to know what happened to one of your favorite characters? Want to know the meaning of a term? Been curious about which comics have upcoming movies? Ask anything you want here.

So don't be shy. Some of the questions may even inspire future articles. So let's get a great Comic Book Question Thread started. Who has the first question?

Yes - there've been a spate of graphic novels turned into movies lately. I'd love some info about upcoming ones, and whether you think they'll be any good. There are some movies where you really have to have read the series before you watch the movie, and a heads up about this sort of thing would really be appreciated. I've sat through some of them just going "Huh?" (Immortal, Sin City), and I think it is due to the screenwriters trying to fit the entire essense of the series into a 2 hour movie, rather than focusing on one storyline.

I have a question.

Did superman every act as or work as a janitor in any of the series, shows or books?

My friend coined the domain name Cleaningsuperman.com and received a letter telling him to cease and desist since the rights were owned due to the superman character acting as a janitor at one time. No one that we know of can find any reference to this fact.

Please help me to determine if this is fact or fiction

I hold hope that all comic book movies will be good, but sadly it's not always the case. The Hulk flopped big time because they failed to capture the essence of the comic. Ang Lee took a more philosophical approach and totally missed the action aspect of the character. They are doing a second movie now without him. I think it will be much better.

Superman recently came out and I had no interest to see it. The reason being is that Singer elected to put it into the old Superman movies rather than start fresh like Batman Begins. He had Brandon Routh essentially mimic Christopher Reeve. He also introduced a child that was very far off what the comics offer. On top of that, I just don't find Lex Luthor to be an interesting antogonist for Superman onscreen. In the comics you can see his Machiavellian schemes playout, in the movies they are too rushed. We need more action there.

Speaking of Batman Begins, that was a comic book movie I thought was really well done. It captured the essence of the character and the comic. There were tweaks for the big screen, but nothing that couldn't be overlooked. My one gripe is the obligatory love interest that Hollywood puts in to try to get women to watch. Katie Holmes was a distraction from the movie I felt.

I also really liked X-men 3 though many comic fans didn't. They were agitated that names and powers were different amongst the various mutants than they were in the comics. I loved it for what it was though and that was a fast paced action movie. It felt like a comic book on the screen with the large cast and epic battles. It was by far my favorite of the three.

I also liked Sin City alot. And it did quite well. In fact a second and third movie are currently in the works. What made the movie confusing to most is that it was a series of short stories done by Frank Miller. None of the tales he wrote actually were long enough to make a movie of by themselves. I thought they did a good job linking the stories though. And the art, acting, and action were incredibly well-done.

Upcoming comic book movies set for release in the near future(in the next year) include Ghost Rider and Spider-man 3. Ghost Rider ( trailer )looks awesome in my opinion. Nicolas Cage is in the lead role and is a self-proclaimed comic fan.(He named his son Kal-El)The story follows the origin story from what I've gathered from the trailer and the special effects look good. It should be a much darker movie as well than the typical since he is posessed be a demon and battles other demons. Tentative release for this movie is February of 2007 as I recall.

Spider-man 3 ( trailer ) looks awesome as well. I liked the first two, but this third looks poised to blow both those out of the water. It deals with the black costume saga which is one of the most popular stories of Spider-man's past. We are getting several supervillians with up to 4 villains being rumored to appear in the movie. We see Sandman in the trailer and he looks awesome. And word from insiders is that Topher Grace is looking to be an awesome Venom. We will be seeing this movie next spring/summer.

Also we are seeing direct-to-video animated movies which I recommend people check out. Marvel has already released Ultimate Avengers 1 & 2 and both were well-done. The second movies also show previews for animated Iron Man and Dr.Strange movies on the horizon. And DC has announced they are entering the animated movie field as well with a Teen Titans cartoon of the Judas Contract. (based on the comic and NOT the cartoon network anime)

What I was able to find is that there was a character named Composite Superman who was the janitor of the Superman museum when he received his powers. Superman also changed in the janitor closet of the Daily Planet quite often and his enemy, the Parasite, was also a janitor.

Now it is quite possible that Superman was undercover or pretended to be a janitor at one point, but it was not a major story plotpoint that I was able to track down readily.

Yeah, what's with that? As if women won't watch an action movie.

The Batman story has always been my favourite. I really got into that. And I thought Batman Begins was well done. I miss Michael Keaton though - What I loved about him in the role was when he took the mask and armour off, he didn't look anything like Batman. It was really convincing that no one would think that Bruce Wayne could be Batman. Whereas don't even get me started on Clark Kent and a silly pair of glasses.

Do you know if there are any more Batman movies in the pipeline? I think there must be, surely. I'm really looking forward to Spider-Man 3 too. Any more X-Men movies?

Is the Fabulous Four movie worth watching?

Well, you asked for questions

lol I did indeed ask for questions.

Yup there are more Batman movies coming. The cast as signed on for three. And Heath Ledger has signed on to play the Joker in the next one. And Christian Bale was a great choice for Batman. Ever since I saw him in Equilibrium, I liked him.

They said they weren't going to do any more X-men movies opting instead to do a Wolverine and young Magneto movie. With the record-setting success of the last X-men movie, I think we just might see another movie afterall. I know I have zero interest in a Magneto movie myself.

And I liked Fantastic Four myself, though many did not. The big complaints were the portrayal of Dr.Doom(which I agree with) and the casting of Jessica Alba as Sue Storm. She lacked the motherly feel the character is known for. Chris Evans and Michael Chiklis though were fantastic as the human Torch and The Thing.

Keep the questions coming.

Funny - there you said "young Magneto movie" and I went "ooooh!" The Magneto character fascinates me. But then I'm a big fan of Sir Ian. But of course, he wouldn't be playing the young Magneto. So it really would depend on who they get to play him. And if Hugh Jackman is signed for the Wolverine movie, I'd love to see that. What about a Rogue movie? Do they ever get to resurrect Jean Grey? Or at least make a young Jean Grey movie? (Now I'm really just putting wishes on Santa's Xmas list...)

Christian Bale scares me (just cannot get his persona in American Psycho out of my head), but I think he's a brilliant actor. I still want to see The Machinist, but it looks really heavy. I need to be in the right mood for that sort of movie.

And perhaps it's knowing the background of Magneto already that limits my interest of seeing it on the silver screen. And I thought Sir Ian was a bit old for the part. I might just be tired that he was the villain/ally through all 3 movies too.lol And Jackman has signed to do a Wolverine movie. He was a great choice for the role especially since he was virtually unknown here in the states when he was chosen. No mention of rogue or Jean Grey movies, sorry. Women superheroes have not been successful at the box office. With the bomb of Catwoman and Elektra, many studios are thinking women as the lead in action movies doesn't sell.

And if you haven't seen Equilibrium, I highly recommen it. It's great and cerebral and loosely based on Bradbury's Fahrenheit 451. It has fantastic fight scenes too.
