Lisa, nice article on multi-vitamins. Would you be at all interested in allowing me to use it on my site www.LowCarbTips.org ? Fair enough if not, just wondered if you might be interested? Happy to include full credit/links etc.

LOL sushi is very tasty. Do you like shrimp? If so then it's easy to start with shrimp since it's the same thing as shrimp cocktail

Chris - thank you for the offer but I really can't have my content on other sites. It causes all sorts of serious issues with Google. You're welcome to link to me here if you want visitors to learn what I've written

Lisa, ok, many thanks for responding. I thought I'd setup my pref.s to e-mail if a reply was made, so apologies for the delay.

most pills can be gotten in capsule form, so they are much easier to swallow, for those who have a hard time.

i definitely would stay away from the chewables - they are not all that good for you.

swansons and puritans pride are both good sources of good vitamins.

i would also stay away from multi-vitamins, and start taking each vitamin separately. a&d, c, b, e. i also take each of my minerals, separately. swanson carries albion minerals, a specialist in minerals.

most calcium in cheap pills is calcium carbonate - for the most part, not very absorbable. and to make matters worse, a lot of what is not absorbed ends up as plaque in our blood.

These have some really yucky ingredients in them. Hmm...Maybe chewable Juice Plus instead? Most "typical" vitamins are filled with dyes and preservatives--and are mostly synthetic. You really want a whole-foods based vitamin. Here are the ingredients:

Sucrose, Dibasic Calcium Phosphate, Mannitol, Calcium Carbonate, Stearic Acid, Starch, Magnesium Oxide, Ascorbic Acid (Vitamin C), Microcrystalline Cellulose, dl-Alpha Tocopherol Acetate (Vitamin E), Gelatin, Contains Less Than 2% of the Following:, Acacia, Ascorbyl Palmitate, Aspartame (contains phenylalanine), Beta Carotene, Biotin, Butylated Hydroxytoluene, Calcium Pantothenate, Carbonyl Iron, Carrageenan, Chromic Chloride, Citric Acid, Cupric Oxide, Cyanocobalamin (Vitamin B12), Ergocalciferol (Vitamin D), Folic Acid, Glucose, Guar Gum, Lactose, Magnesium Stearate, Malic Acid, Maltodextin, Manganese Sulfate, Mono and DiGlycerides, Natural & Artificial Flavors, Niacinamide, Phytonadione (Vitamin K), Potassium Iodide, Potassium Sorbate, Pregelatinized Starch, Purified Water, Pyridoxine Hydrochloride (Vitamin B6), Riboflavin (Vitamin B2), Silicon Dioxide, Sodium Ascorbate, Sodium Benzoate, Sodium Citrate, Sodium Molybdate, Sodium Silicoaluminate, Sorbic Acid, Thiamine Mononitrate (Vitamin B1), Tocopherol, Tribasic Calcium Phosphate, Vanillin, Vitamin A Acetate (Vitamin A), Yellow 6 Aluminum Lake, Zinc Oxide, Fructose (may contain, less than 2%)

Rainbow Light makes a great chewable for kids called Nutristars. I used to give my little ones that one. You could probably just do the math and take an adult dosage. They have nothing yucky in them.

It's funny all the different takes on vitamins!!

Synthetic vitamins are always inferior when compared to real food. If you can't get enough fresh fruits and veggies, try juicing. As for vitamins, it's best to seek out a more natural brand like Rainbow Light or whole foods nutrition like Juice Plus.

Most of my friends use only Rainbow Light or Juice Plus. I noticed Rainbow Light as a multi specifically for women called "Food for Women" on their website. Their products are WONDERFUL. I highly recommend them.

I think our tests proved that no human can eat enough food, in a single day, to provide all the vitamins needed. So just "eating healthy" can never be enough, ever person needs vitamins. The only question really is what vitamins they should take.

I also believe that taking something is better than taking nothing - and if you don't have the money, or the ability, to take lots of solid vitamins, it's better than nothing to eat chewables. It's like saying it's healthier if everyone lived in the country on a farm - but you have to work with someone can do, not what the ideal world would hold for them smile
