I found a fabulous crochet pattern for a diamon trellis throw on the back of a redheart supersaver label. I have tried for about 3 days to get this pattern correct and it's driving me crazy. I figured out the first few rows, but when I follow the pattern from row 4 on it just doesn't look right. I hope I'm not breaking any rules by posting what the pattern is here...the pattern is:

ch218

row 1 sc in 2nd ch from hook and in ch across 217sc
turn

row 2 ch 5 skip first 2sc, sc in next sc,*ch5, skip 3 sc, sc in next sc: rep from * to last 2 sc: ch2 dc in last sc
turn

row 3 (this one took me awhile to understand)
ch1, sc in dc, *ch5, sc in ch5-lp; rep from * across working last sc in 3rd ch of ch5
turn

row 4
ch5, sc in ch5-lp, *3dc in next dc, sc in next lp**, ch5 sc in next lp; rep from * to last sc, end at ** ch2 dc in last sc
turn

row 5
ch1, sc in dc, *3dc in next sc, skip next dc, 3dc in next sc, 3dc in next sc, sc in next lp, rep from * across end as row 3
turn

There are more rows to the pattern but this is where I get goofed up. The finished result is supposed to look something like this:

Well my Dear , " Just As I See It "
Take each step very slowly and work .
Here is row 3 and 4 >> But ??
I do not see any > dc in row 3 that you can work into for the instructions *-** in row 4 ??
Am I missing something !!! ?

Check your pattern for the stitch names in those rows like the placing of sc and dc .
Or do you have some Mis-Print in the instructions ?

row 3 (this one took me awhile to understand)
ch1,
sc in dc,
*ch5, sc in ch5-lp;
rep from * across
working last sc in 3rd ch of ch5
turn

row 4
ch5,
sc in ch5-lp,
*3dc in next dc, sc in next lp**,
ch5 sc in next lp;
rep from * to last sc,
end at ** ch2 dc in last sc
turn

YOU are not a Dork !!
Words can kill, so stop doing that to yourself !!
We learn that our eyes and fingers make mistakes , Ha ha.
Now down to business >>

Gonna work on this , and make a small piece and send in a picture.
But in the mean time , break down the pattern into steps.

I have to do this and rip stuff back and then say >

"""" Oh , now I got it !!""""

The designer knows what it is to look like and we play follow the leader.

I know if yo go SLOW and break it down ( unless there are type errors ) you will be able to work it out.
Keep in touch !!

magikjaz - I did this pattern and I cannot tell you how many times I ripped it out before it finally "clicked". As Mother Hen said, just take it really slow, and count, count, count, count and count again. Unfortunately, this is one of those patterns that if you find you've dropped a stitch you almost have to rip it back and fix it. But be patient. When it is finished it is really a beautiful afghan!

ch5, sc in ch5-lp, *3dc in next sc, sc in next lp**, ch5, sc in next lp;

this is the part that gets me. So I get all the way to ** ch5 and I don't know where to sc in the next lp. Do I sc in the lp next to the next sc or what?

I know this is hard without pics, so I'm gonna try and work on it and show you what I'm ending up with that's driving me crazy

And if I can't figure this out in the next couple days I'm scrapping it for something simpler for now. It was supposed to be a gift for a first wedding anniversary in 2 weeks.

In the LOOP means to sc into that space created by chains.
And >
I guess it is assumed that they mean for us to know that will be the >> ch 5 loop.

Again , another instruction to make you say > Whahhh ?

Don't you give up on this pattern ,
your gonna beat this stinker.
