pinzneedles, I used Hipknits 4 ply sock yarn for the lower single sock (the second is now finished so I must photograph it), and Fiberspates 4 ply sock yarn for the pink and green mottled pair. I don't think you'll be able to get that exact colourway in the Fiberspates and certainly not in the Hipknits because they're no longer made in that colourway - but some of the other dyeings are just as nice!

I must put some of mine on,i like to knit motif jumpers
as well as other items,i will hunt the pictures out and put them on.

Tatting and Knitting - I have the Nutby book on socks. I am planning to try a pair after Christmas. I knit socks all the time but I always use four needles and have a pattern that tells me the number of stitches. Did you follow her instructions re measuring the parts of the foot and using five needles?

Hi, yes I followed the instructions re measuring the foot and followed her methods in knitting the heel flap and so on - but I went my own way and used the Magic Loop method with one long circular needle to knit the socks and it worked perfectly well.
