Good luck with that.

When we walk on a road, we see all kinds of sights- good and bad. If we find something bad, we do not gaze there. If somebody gets disturbed by any post, they should not read and bother about it.

For a lot of things, the sentiment behind that advice would be one I also recommend.
However, this is a forum, which is, unless I'm totally mistaken about the premise, a place to comment and be commented upon.
No, it isn't about getting enraged and attacking, but in the course of discussion, counterpoint is often used to make a point about oneself. We're defined by what we object to as much as by what we agree with.
Posting in a forum makes advising others to overlook the comment if they don't like it a bit silly, especially when the person in question (I'm assuming) was asking you to avoid distorting the comments of others, not expressing offense.
The dynamic of conversation can't preclude disagreement, and even a little healthy anger- what are beleifs without passion?- as long as everything is treated with wisdom and reserve.

A better question would be; Why are athiests so bound a determined to silence Christians...I guess that "free speech" part of Constitution isn't supposed to apply to Christians? I am a Christian, I feel very sorry for those who are not...do I "preach at" others? No... Do I try to live a life that shows how great it is to be a Christian? Guilty as charged. Do I resent being treated poorly by athiests and non believers who what to take away my rights as a citizen of this country (freedom OF (not from) religon;
freedon of speech; Prayer is form of both
A coupleof thousand years ago, the Romans sent in Lions ot eat the CHristians...I say it is about time that we Christians eat the lions.

And while we are asking questions, Just what is the big hoohaa about saying Merry Christmas? When all the athiests stop celebrating OUR (as Christians) Holi (ready Holy) days, then maybe the Merry Christmas/Happy Holidays thing will all go away...If it weren't for Jesus, we would have neither Christmas or Easter...So, Merry Christmas to all people of Peace

What persecution! And Christians have turned the other cheek since then, right? We've had the crusades (Christians against Muslims), the French Wars of the 1500's (Huguenots, Catholics, Protestants), Spanish wars in the 1500s (Catholic, Muslims, Protestants/Calvinists), the thirty year war in the 1600s (Catholics, Protestants, Calvinists) ... shall I continue? And what about those lovely Salem witch trials? Nothing to do with Christians, eh?

I once saw a cute bumper sticker that's "stuck" with me - "It's not God I have a problem with - it's his fan club that pisses me off."

This is a very tired ruse Xtians are always using - playing the injured little bird. Oh poor me, all I am doing is exercising my right to free speech and, alas, Atheists are kicking dirt in my face.

Oh, woe is me. We are being eaten by lions.

Yes, you have the right to "express" yourself - even when you are a dominant, overbearing, 800 lb gorilla religion - but SHOULD you? Is this not this really just beating your chests? Ferreting out the heretics? Xtians used to burn them alive - how merciful of you.

(Oh, look, that child does not say the Pledge - let's kick the sh*t out of him in the playground!)

Since you mention freedom of speech, dissent is an integral part of the process. Atheists have as much right to complain about being smothered with god's love than anyone. But then, you Xtians don't like it when others point out how absurd ressurection is or that the rapture is a massive hysterical delusion. Jim and Tammy, eat your heart out.

Let's see what you Xtians have to say about this as the Muslims start to "express" themselves more and more in your community - and you think Atheists are intolerant? This is not looking too pretty in Europe already and that is'nt even Jesusland.

As for holidays, Xtians didn't invent then - they are ALL pagan in origin except now they are really boring because it was probably LOT more fun watching naked women jumping over bon fires back in the day.

As for Jesus? Jesus is a mythological figure - the man mentioned in the bible never existed. He's real you say? Pull the other one.

Nero and Caligula never got to finish the job.

Oh yea, I almost forgot - God bless you!

Tip of the day: When you are staying in a hotel room, take the Gideon bible to the front desk and tell them you don't want it in your room.

We'd have Yule and Oestara. Still. Same two holidays. Only not bent to fit around a newly invented religion.

Cheers for you, Elle.
I'm amazed there are still people who don't know that most of the "times of the year" we celebrate were marked long before Christianity.

"I am a Christian, I feel very sorry for those who are not"

How condescending is that?!

Janeinga, may I ask why you feel sorry for non-Christians? Do you think you are better than they? Do you think you have a monoploy on happiness and fulfillment? Do you honestly think you have a better life, present and future than they? How do you know? You are not Omniscient.

Patience.

Facts are stubborn things; and whatever may be our wishes, our inclinations, or the dictates of our passions, they cannot alter the state of facts and evidence.
