Dover 400
September 24,06.

Matt Kenseth enters the second race of the NASCAR Nextel Cup Series'
"Chase for the Championship" looking to repeat his win in the spring race at
Dover International Speedway, and he likely will be the sportsbook favorite for NASCAR bettors. That would make him just the ninth driver to complete a season sweep at the one-mile, high-banked concrete oval in the track's 37-year history.

Wow, did we just skip the first race of the Chase all together? By the way, the June race in Loudon (this weekend's race) was won by Kenseth, as well. Of course, it doesn't matter who wins, we may never get to see them in victory lane. It could be, (for arguments sake) Scott Riggs, but he's not one of the "Chasers". The Chase for the Championship means if you're not a "Chaser" you get little or no TV time. Maybe the last 10 races should just be the 10 Chase guys? The other 33 can just stay home.
And before you ask, I'm an 8 fan, so I'm not bitter because my guy didn't make it. I think a big story could have been made Saturday night about how 4 of the top ten finishers in the race where NOT "Chasers". And from 11th to 20th there were 9 more who are not Chasers. If there is a drawback to the Chase, this may be it.

To the world you may be one person, but to one person you may be the world.

I just posted my comments and commentary about the Chase and how it turned out. I have said for many years that there should be more points for winning, and I still maintain that point. If there were, Tony would have made it and it would be the non-race winners that would have struggled to get in. But, I don't think it's going to be a Kenseth runaway. I think it will be a race between Kenseth, Harvick, and Kahne. I don't think that the Hendricks boys are going to be in contention at all (I hope so at least). Hopefully, Jr. will be up there in the mix too, but somehow I don't think he will do better than 4th. They are getting closer to where they need to be, but just aren't quite there yet, whereas Harvick, Kenseth, and Kahne are there.
