Cuticle is the outermost covering of hair that gets damaged with chemical treatments, rough handling etc. It has a tile like structure. Once it is damaged, the cortex of hair is exposed and makes hair more prone to damage. When cuticle gets damaged, the tiles shift and you feel that your hair is rough. Conditioning repairs the damage over a period of time.

I think that this thread is getting confused. We should rather talk about the Vitamins only.
