I've been looking for days. Does anyone have an Invocation to Neptune/Poseiden that they wouldn't mind sharing?

Thanks

I create a lot of my own invocations in the moment, depending on what is going on in my life, and what work I'm trying to do. I know a lot of folks get hung up on what they're going to say, but a very wise man once said to me, the gods care more about your intention than if you are a good poet or not.

Have you considered crafting one of your own?

Rae's answer is exactly what I would suggest. I think if you speak from the heart to Him (ad you can reference things he is associated with etc) that is the best course of action.

if you are looking for something a little more formal you can check to see if there is a Homeric Hymn to Poseidon, but I dont know for sure if there is one.

The trick to crafting an invocation is to have a good idea of what your work is intended for before you start. Are you honoring Poseidon? Are you asking for guidance or help?

Ritual work is about focusing of intention and carrying out symbolic actions that support actual action you are taking in your life to make a change, inside yourself or in your world.

Fiona, that is exactly what I was looking for. I don't feel comfortable making something up "on the fly" and I feel a lot better having something more formal to say. Anyway, this is what I found, and I like it:

ll. 1-5) I begin to sing about Poseidon, the great god, mover of the earth and fruitless sea, god of the deep who is also lord of Helicon and wide Aegae. A two-fold office the gods allotted you, O Shaker of the Earth, to be a tamer of horses and a saviour of ships!

(ll. 6-7) Hail, Poseidon, Holder of the Earth, dark-haired lord! O blessed one, be kindly in heart and help those who voyage in ships!

Glad to be of help. The Homeric Hymns are always so powerful and ritually feeling to me <img src="/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />
