Hi everyone,
What's your #1 book for self-development? My top pick right now isn't really a book, but the movie "The Secret." My husband and I watched it again today for the third time. I gain tips from this each time. Many of you have probably watched it but it's based on the Law of Attraction.

What hit me today was writing down goals daily. I've written goals down, but not daily and this is something I'm starting.

Another book that had a great impact on me this summer was "Excuse Me Your Life is Waiting" by Lynn Grabhorn. Great book on how feelings affect what shows up in our life.

So I'm looking for my next book. Suggestions??

Thanks!

Donna, did you buy or rent that movie? I see it's an Australian production about the Law of Attraction. If you're into that, you might enjoy The Writings of Florence Scovel Shinn. They're put out in one trade paperback volume by DeVorss Publications.

" Walking in this World " - by Julia Cameron

" Drawing on the Right Side of the Brain " - by Betty Edwards

I really liked Lynn Grabhorn's book and the movie, "The Secret" too.

A book I've just finished which I think is really good is, "I Need Your Love - Is That True?" (how to stop seeking love, approval and appreciation and start finding them instead) by Byron Katie. This book gets you to ask yourself basically 4 simple questions whenever you're facing a painful situation. It was very freeing to me to learn how a lot of my own thoughts were causing situations to be painful, not the actual event itself. Once you realize this, it's easy to let the painful emotions go.

If you find yourself constantly needing approval from others, this is a great book. She has another one as well called, "Loving What Is" which is similar but goes into different topics. I really enjoyed reading these two books this summer.

Currently, the book about Saving My First Kiss by Lisa Velthouse is my ultimate self-liberation book. I will recommend it to teenagers and mothers too. Movie-wise, still my number 1 IF ONLY by jennifer love hewitt

Someone recommended "The Artist's Way" to me many months ago and I had completely forgotten about it until I read Artglams post. I'll take that as a sign to seek it out.
