I've been trying to make a hat and at the end of the round it says to "join". What exactly does that mean and how do I go about doing it? What I thought was joining made my hat have a zig-zag hole thing and it was just...weird.
Thanks

Ducky

hi, what you have to do is when you come to the end of a row, instead of kepping going with the stitch, you need to put your hook into the top of the 1st crochet stitch and then just pull your thread through and start the new row with whatever stitch you are using. its easy, just try it. hope that helps. merwyn

okay so I figured that out, there are still holes in my hat. It says to join and then chain 3 and sc in next stitch, but it always leaves a hole/loop. Am I supposed to sc down the chain stitches or something?

it says ch3 dc in each dc. join. then your supposed to repeat that for a couple of rounds. but the three ch stitches leaves this loop and it looks funny.

o.k, what you need to do is after you chain the 3 then dc in the NEXT stitch and then the chain 3 will count as a dc. see if that helps. merwyn

The chains at the beginning can leave a hole, what I do is modify the starting chains by subtituting a half-double crochet, chain one in the first stitch, it fills up the hole.
