I am looking at a pattern on ebay and it says "Anthro". It is an old vintage pattern. Does anyone know what they mean by Anthro?

It could be the name of a company by that name or antro also means "furry" - after animals.

Furry huh? That is very interesting. i've learned somethin new today. i googled Anthro patterns and all i came up with was links to the ebay auctions I had been looking at. Also alot of links on Anthropology. Yes, you are probably right about it being an old company since gone for a while.

I bought the pattern anyway. it's cute. It's a little sock doll. There is a boy version i may get later. These smilies are fun!

My name is Rainy by the way. How do you do. I bought a new sewing machine yesterday and I am all excited about using it!

Anthro is short for "anthropomorphic", which means "resembling a human being" ... meaning this cat looks more like a person with cat features than like a cat (or in this case, an upright-standing cat).

It's used in certain circles for art that makes animals look more people-like versus like the animals themselves.
