so is ecw part of wwe??

The new ECW is just another brand of the WWE now. Just like Smackdown or RAW (They way they try and make it look like rival brands, its all part of the WWE).

ECW folded a few years ago (Paul Heyman is a tremendous booker...not so great a businessman apparently), and Vince bought up the brand. (WCW was essentially dead and vince bought that for a song...with no intention of continuing the organization, but he now owns the rights to all the characters and extensive video library.)

I honestly haven't had a chance to watch the new ECW product yet, however from what I hear, its not bad, but at best its a very watered down version of classic ECW, and at worst it stinks of WWE influence. I would make time to watch it if Vince just stepped aside and told Heyman "Paul, here are some business people to help with the money end of things and keep you in the black, otherwise...do whatever the heck you want"

From what I've heard on this, Angle is going through a pretty tough time at the moment. He's in a lot of pain, his body is a mess, and he and his wife are having a rough time, and add to that they are apparently expecting their first child. (Heard this last night on the Live Audio Wrestling show)

I hope the guy takes some time off and really heals up and maybe comes back in the future...but perhaps like Foley has done...come back for a bit, do the odd match, but become more a manager or backstage character.
From the way it sounds the WWE just doesn't want Kurt to kill himself this way, which may just be where the guy is headed.

Of course while hopefully this is good for Kurt...the WWE is already short talent (What with the recent releases and the wellness policy putting guys on the shelf) and Kurt is a guy who they know can consistently deliver (So they must really have been concerned to drop him like this).

They are expecting their second child. They already have a daughter. Kurt's main problem is drug addiction. He is in so much pain all the time that he has relied on more and more medication to get him through matches. He is at the seriously in danger of dying level and WWE had to do what they did and I applaud them. Kurt's a perfectionist and a workaholic and he just wouldn't stop until someone stopped him. Let's hope this forced time away will allow him time to heal and to get his life together. I don't want him to be another wrestling statistic.

If he got well & came back as the goofy Kurt Angle who pounds cartons of milk, I would be cool with that.

Goofy angles don't work with wrestlers like Kurt Angle. If he was going to come back as a goof then he shouldn't come back at all. Sure his singing thing with Vince and Stone Cold was funny but goofy angles is all people will remember if that's how they finish up their careers.

Cse in point, Goldust. No one remembers him as the Goldust when he first came on board as the gender bending, mind freak that gave him the psychological advantage over his opponents. Now they just know him as a goofy character who once had Tourette's because he was thrown into some electrical boxes. Remember his line with Triple H when he said, " ...down in the cock...cock...cockles of your heart."?

Snitzky was a feared competitor until he became a toe sucking freak. No one will remember his classic battles with Kane and who some thought could be a second coming of Sid Vicious.

No, if Kurt Angle is going to return to wrestling, he has to come back as the wrestling machine that he was for the past couple of years after his GM stint on Smackdown. If he comes back as a "character" then he just need not come back at all.

At this point, it looks like Kurt is self destructing and may go to Japan or TNA and not ace all his injuries and addictions. He is at a very, very low point in his life and career and I worry a lot about his state of mind.

DX is goofy but that isn't how people will remember Triple H or Shawn Michaels. However, I don't think the goofy character fits Angle anymore. He was supposed to be a shooter in ECW which is what he wanted to do all along. But then he just spiraled out of control.

Kurt has definitely made many forget about that goofy side that he has showed us in the past. I think he was good at it though and was entertaining either way.
Steve Austin on the other hand was not funny at all when he tried to be silly.
Kurt Angle as a great wrestler goes without saying. So what if he embraced his goofy gimmick again. This is sports ENTERTAINMENT. I would respect him no less.
I really hope he calms down and starts thinking about his health and his family.

At the moment I could care less about what character he comes back as. I just want him to sort things out and to come back...full stop. Any Kurt is a good Kurt, for me. For all of us, I'd say. <img src="/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

Well he has a lot to do. His personal life is crumbling around him as his wife left him and is pregnant with his first son (and they have a three year old daughter) and his emotional state is a mess.

His body is a wreck and he isn't seeking treatment for anything yet and he is still using all the drugs to allow him to be able to function.

MMA and Japan are interested in him as soon as he is free (February) and I am sure UFC and TNA are licking their chops. He really has a load of options and those places don't care if he is a mess. He's a big payday to them.

I hope in the three months he has, he will at least heal some and face some of his problems and not run out and go right back to work without addressing all his physical problems.

I hear he has been calling Vince about appearing at WrestleMania...
