A friend was over the other day and had been to a local hot tub place where it was apparently "family hour" there (unbeknownest to her)

Somebody on my livejournal friends list was talking about going...somewhere, was it a hotel or something maybe?...and he said he went in the hot tub, but as there had been kids in it previously they had turned the temperature down so he had to wait for it to warm up again.

Ridiculous. What happened to "no kids in the hot tub" signs? What happened to those days when I was a kid and would go in hot tubs and my eyeballs never fell out nor did my skin melt off or any other horrendous consequence that they're SOOOO afraid of?

Nowhere is sacred anymore. Kids go to coffee shops, bars, spas...all those places where you would think kids do NOT need to be, but they make them kid friendly. I mean, what, the kid's going to knock back a double latte and have a Swedish massage??? (and yes, I'm sure that somewhere, there is a kid having an expensive massage at this moment. It must be so helpful in getting rid of the stress you get when some other kid steals the blocks at daycare)

Speaking of hot tubs... I was away with some family for the weekend and my sister decided to use the hot tub. She turned on the bubbles and heat. At this point, 3 little monsters jumped in and said "We don't WANT the bubbles on" and proceeded to try and turn it off (sister was STILL IN IT!). She just smugly smiled as she knew they could not turn it off (it was on a timer) even though they struggled with it.

These same brats proceeded to get into the pool where I was and splash about (btw... no parents anywhere near the pool... they were outside chugging back a few brewskies). I put up with it for a while then finally lost my nut after one kid stood next to me deliberatly splashing me in the face. I raised my voice and said "hey Hey HEY! Enough with the splashing". The kid gave me this shocked look like I was a monster but TOO BAD!

Why is it that parents teach their kids no manners? No consideration for anyone but themselves? NO RESPECT for adults! It is really scary to me... wonder what it will be like when these little darlins' become adults? Oh society will suffer!

So, okay. I figured out my business and how I'll certainly become rich and make people happy: create a childfree bakery/cafe/spa place. Paying customers deserve to have a peaceful experience without it being marred by bratty children.

If parents want to get irate about it, who cares? Any protests they bring about only brings me more publicity and more customers. I'm not going to bend to their whims because every other damn place allows their children to run around and shriek like howler monkeys. And no, your kid will not be the exception. I don't care how well-behaved it is.

Not everything has to be childfriendly. There are specific places for children and we stay away from those. Why can't there be specific places that don't allow children? The kids sure as hell aren't paying for anything.
