Here's another one. You'll never have to worry about the 30 year old "child" who still hasn't left the nest.

I've been reading about "extended adolescence". What a load of you know what. I graduated, left home for college, graduated again, and found a job. My parents would have welcomed me back if there'd been some kind of true emergency; but, otherwise I was out of the nest after high school.

That's so true! It's almost epidemic here in ireland, supposedly because of the housing crisis. The crisis being the cost of buying a house. But houses were always expensive! I don't believe it's any harder now than it was 20-30 years ago.
My sister and her husband lived with my mother while their house was being constructed. And this was after my mother had loaned them the money for the deposit!
When can parents say that they've finally done with bringing up their kids? It reminds me of the cosby show; the dad was constantly amazed at his grown up kids arriving back home to live, often bringing spouses and kids along with them. I seem to remember him saying 'these children will never leave!' a whole lot!

I have noticed that a lot of people with kids expect their parents or in-laws to be available at the drop of a hat to babysit. I used to be friends with a breeder who didn't like the fact that her mother-in-law didn't want to babysit all the time. Who could blame the mother in law for not wanting to, giving this breeder's attitude of entitlement?

[color:"blue"] Exactly, my mom doesn't mind babysitting for my nieces/nephews, but not all the time. If someone had a kid and then misses their freedom, well tough. It's kinda late for that. They should of thought about that before they sprogged.

I think parents today are incapable of kicking their kids out once they hit a certain age. I wanted out of the house badly, because I was wanting to be 'on my own,' since I'm a very independent person. [/color]
