1. ability to travel anywhere, any time -- definitely #1
2. we eat out a LOT
3. not having to get up before dawn to get anyone other than myself ready and out the door (except to feed the critters)
4. our boat, camper, truck, nice car, vacation resort membership
5. having the time and money to volunteer/donate to charities, being able to help family, etc. DH is from a very large, very close (but crazy) family and we are constantly helping someone. My family is much smaller but we help them, too. We have several nieces/nephews whom we adore, from toddlers to college age. Even if it's just moral/emotional support or encouragement, we are much more able to give our time/energy to attend functions, offer advice, provide guidance, etc. One of the things I love most about my husband is his generosity of spirit and self, esp. when it comes to family.

[color:"blue"] Great idea!!!!

1.) Peace and quiet!!!!
2.) Disposable income!
3.) Eat out at the drop of a hat! We dont have to find a baby sitter, mess with fussy kids, and eat out where we please!
4.) Have the cars we want, without worrying about car seats!!!
5.) Not have to childproof our home!
6.) Sleep in on weekends!!!
7.) Grocery shopping isnt as long when shopping only for 2 people!!!
8.) Less to cook!
9.) Less dishes to clean!
10.) Less laundry!!!!!
11.) No need to buy diapers or formula! (Or worries about kids to please to whom are picky)
12.) We are able to buy clothes for ourselves, not for Jr.
13.) Have some of the sweetest indulges without feeling guilty.
14.) Travel when we please, dont have to worry about cranky kids.
15.) Be a family of two, which is an even and cool number!
16.) Being on the pill is much cheaper than that $269,000, which is how much a kid costs after 18 years, not including college costs, which are outrageous.
17.) Early retirement.
18.) No need to worry about kids putting us into a nursing home; we can do that ourselves, if and when we are ready.
19.) No need to worry about kids mooching or leaching off of us.
20.) Live as we please!
21.) We can each have our home hobbies, no having to go to boring soccer practice, ect.
22.) Go to a ballgame (or hockey game) at the drop of a hat.
23.) We can play Pc or play station 2 games, as we please.
24.) We can camp out and relax, as we dont have to worry about entertaining the kids.
25.) Have our careers, or get a college degree, without kids getting in our way.

I know I came up with more than 5, but I figure that being childfree is such a good lifestyle choice, I came up with 25. Enjoy! <img src="/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/images/graemlins/cool.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/images/graemlins/devil.gif" alt="" />

If motherhood doesn't interest you, don't do it. It didn't interest me, so I didn't do it. Anyway, I would have made a terrible parent. The first time my child didn't do what I wanted, I'd kill him."

[color:"487878"]Someone else (on a different CF forum) mentioned these reasons and I agree wholeheartedly:

- not getting the stink-eye from people for my child's behaviour in public.

- being able to honestly and unashamedly GIVE the stink-eye to people who's kids are behaving badly in public.[/color]

We have no locks on our bathroom doors! But we learned the hard way about the lock on the bedroom door when one of our nieces busted in while I was getting dressed. We now have a lock on the door for when kids are over - just in case.

You'll never have a child that (a) keeps dolls, in parts, in little boxes under his bed; (b) sets fire to the dog/cat; (c) stuffs a hamster in a microwave; or (d) tries to hang the neighbor's daughter from the big elm in the front using his jump rope.

Our next door neighbor growing up. I kid you not.

He had "therapy" and now has children of his own to mess up. Scary, isn't it?
