I'm holding a pre party prior to a Streisand concert with 4 girlfriends at my home. It will be a cocktail style gathering and I'd love to brain storm to collect some ideas for food, drinks, and ambiance. I love to tittle my parties as you can see above in the subject area, so with the tittle in mind any thoughts? Thanks for taking the time...

Hi partyscapes!

Sounds like you and the girls are gearing up for a great night out! I'm envious!

Just off the top of my head, I'm picturing an Old Hollywood style get together - everything vintage! Perhaps a wine tasting party? Or set up a full cocktail/martini bar in your kitchen for some interactive cocktail mixing! I'll give it some thought and see what else comes to me.

Party planners unite! ~ lets give partyscapes a hand to make her pre-concert party a fabulous one.

Well, one of her most famous films/broadway shows was "Funny Girl". Lots of Hollywood glitz in that, including the Ziegfield Folly girls. Of course you'll have to have latkes with sour cream and cavier (or whipped cream cheese and smoked salmon)- both as a nod to her being Jewish and as it's being considered an "in" thing at cocktail parties.

Wasn't the Martini the "hot" thing in that movie? Maybe do a martini bar - do all the new wild martinis like the ones with chocolate, and fruits, and such. But of course have the old standby ready, too.

As for ambience, if you have a big screen (or good TV) rent the movie, and have it playing in the background.

Hi partyscapes!
I have a great cosmopolitan recipe!
So fill your martini shaker about half through with ice, then we're going to put in half an ounce of lime juice, half an ounce of cranberry juice and half an ounce of triple sack. And since I'm such a good pourer, I can just eyeball it, but at home you want to measure it out half ounce of triple sack and we're going to do one ounce of vodka. Now if you want to be sure, you can get one of these shot pourers and you can measure out one ounce that way you know it's perfect, but I've been pouring drinks for years so I can pour a shot pretty easily. Okay, put the top on the martini shaker and this is the fun part. You want to go ahead and really shake that up and incorporate all those great flavors. You want to make sure you get your cosmopolitan nice and cold so that martini shire gets full of this great icy and it gets so cold you can't even touch it. Take the top off and we're going to pour it into our beautiful martini glass, this looks great. Now you can adjust the recipe, if you like a little more of a lime flavor, add a little more lime juice. If you like a lot of cranberry flavor, add more cranberry, but I find that these portions make the perfect cosmopolitan. Now all you need to do is put a garnish on the side and you are ready for a great afternoon.
