I found yarn on sale at ACMoore, BOGO and I thought I would put my talents to work. I'm making scarfs and matching hats and I plan on giving them to the local soup kitchen to hand out to the people that need them. I also donate yarn to a church group that makes knitted and crocheted 'hats' and blankets for newborns at the local hospital.

I make 'booties' and 'wigs' for the Relay for Life team here at work. The wigs are knitted and crocheted hats out of the fun yarns because not everyone can buy wigs and they can serve that purpose.

I also do Angels for Hope. It is a group of crocheters that make angels, butterflies and smiley faces and mail them to people to give them hope. They are free for the asking.

Now I am making hats and scarfs for the grands for Christmas. But if the weather turns colder earlier, they will get them sooner.

I have made the wheelchair lapghans but only when someone requested it.

I hope I've given you some ideas. Keep up the good work.

hi everyone, thanks for the ideas. what i usually do is make the booties and hats for the hospital(sometimes a blanket) and the lapghans for the nursing homes, also when i have the time and energy i also make hat and scarves for the homeless and give them either to the mission where they are handed out, or to the police and fire departments. also around christmas i usually try and get some dolls or teddy bears made and give to the fire department here as they have a list of familys who are not able to buy their kids anything for christmas. angels for hope sounds like a wonderful organization as well as the hats for pine ridge indian reservation. how would i go about making hats and sending to those in need there? is there an address or e-mail or something? many thanks for the sites . merwyn

thanks merwyn..here's an idea....

teach a couple friends and start a tradition of your own !

i only have 2 sisters but just think we each try to do one square a week if anything ... so we end up with at least 156 squares yearly ... actually its more ..cause we all do more than one...but just think of the possibilities!
