In Australia a few years ago there was a story in the media of a mother who killed her intellectually disabled son. I remember thinking how awful it was but also that it wasn't hard to believe.
It obviously didn't make a difference for this woman that the kid was her own.

[color:"blue"] I think some people get starry eyed that their baby will be normal, when that isn't always the case! And then they are either mad because they find out that the baby doesn�t have a �give back receipt� like everything else in life!!!![/color]

There's almost always a disclaimer....I guess it's so ingrained in people that it's bad to not like your kids (or kids in general) that people put on a happy face. I think they don't want to admit they made a HUGE mistake!
