hey guys! so I've got another question. I'm in college now, and I brought my betta with me. It was about a 7 hour car drive full of bumps and sloshing. So I'm wondering how long I can leave my betta in my dorm room fairly unattended. I have a pack of 7 day betta blocks, but I've also heard that its ok to leave a Betta to fast for a few days(4-5) any thoughts? I'm trying to weigh the stress the car ride puts on him compaired to not eating for a few days. and I'm aso wondering if those betta blocks work? Thanks so much!

Not really sure I understand the question, but I will answer what I think you're asking . A betta can go for quite a while without food. In their natural environments, they have drought seasons, where food is in short supply, so they have adapted to this. If it were me, I would fast him a day or two, then give him crushed flakes (the veggie matter will be easier on his digestive tract), then return to his regular food. He will still need a water change and interaction is always good for them. I hope I helped, if not, just ask again.

I'm sorry I probily should have made it more to the point.
1) how many days can a betta go without being cared for?(I'm not going to leave him for weeks but I'm wondering if he'll be ok if i go away for the weekend)
2)are the 7 day betta blocks worth using?

1. he should be fine over the weekend,
and
2. i have never used them, but i would be very tempted to not use them. bettas will eat as much as they can at any one time. the risk of him overeating (which can cause many problems) or it fouling his water is a bigger concern than him starving. i have heard that you should feed him normally the day before leaving. then about half the amount early in the first day back, then try another half later in the day, then return to normal feeding schedule. Make sure his tank or bowl is covered, but air can still circulate. Bettas are notorious for jumping.
