I've already posted about my female betta. She's kind of bloated, but her scales aren't puffed out. But the newest development is what looks like a blister on her side. It looks like a small bubble of skin. Help?

hmmmmmm...odd.
This is a very good site (with pictures!)

it doesnt sound like anything i've encountered. is it possible she scratched herself on a decoration? (maybe they arent related, just happened to occur at the same time?)
regardless, i would do frequent water changes, maybe every day or so. small ones, about 5 or 10% and add aquarium salt and extra stress coat or something similar. I have realized that bettas' immune systems are USUALLY pretty good, and often they can heal themselves given a clean, stress-free environment. im not saying dont treat them, just that sometimes they just need a little help instead of chemicals. GL! if you find out what it is, or can post a picture, that would help us a lot. i really wish i knew more to tell you. how big a tank is she in? are there any other fish in there? if so, do they show any signs? what are the water readings, like ammonia, nitrIte and nitrAte? ive had trouble getting on here, so im sorry for the delay. Keep us updated!

Hi Bunnywith,

I was wondering, how old is your beta? Most female betas I know when they are about 2 start looking bloated, this is because even if she is not around a male, they do develop eggs and become wider. When this happens their color can also change.

The bubble of skin does not sound familar to me either but it could be that they just bumped into something or scraped on a rock on the bottom of the tank.

I think stampingchick is right that as long as you try to keep the water clean and let her "chill out" for a bit she will be fine. Just be careful with too many water changes. if they are needed go for it, but I have had frequent water changes cause alot of stress with fish I have had.

Good luck.
