I'm going to try to make this as short as I can. 4 years ago I have been having bleeding problems. When I start my period I don't stop bleeding. The Dr has to put me on the pill that makes me really sick and I have to take 2 or 3 pills a day to stop my bleeding. My heminblobin gets down to usually 9. My periods stopped for almost 2 years and my obyn said nothing to worry about. I knew something was wrong but didn't know what. Well I changed Drs and they did alot of blood test and I'm in menopause. She told me at my age I need to get out of menopause. She put me on the pill (I told her that I can't have periods because I don't stop bleeding). Well sure enough about 3 weeks on the pill I started bleeding and I'm not stopping. I just saw her the other day and I'm beeing sent for another aultersound again. When I bleed I have clots the size of my hand. I have pushing for a hist. for about 3 years now. My question how much is enogh?? I think I'm being a ginue pig. Dee P.s. I'm 34.

Hi Punkinboo,
None of your symptoms are "normal". Stopping your periods for 2 years is not normal and your excessive bleeding is not normal. You are not crazy and dont have to be a guinea pig. You just have to find a doctor that will take you seriously. I have had excessive bleeding during my period for years. I became anemic just like you. Im surprised with a hemoglobin count of 9 that you can even write this letter, you must be so exhausted. Listen to me and get a obgyn who listens to you!!!. You have options. You are too young to be in menopause yes but you have to be able to function in a normal fashion with periods. The pill obviously does not work for you. You should not be sick. I cannot take it either. I assume you are done having children if you want them because you are pushing for a hysterectomy. What stopped your periods? You went from excessive bleeding to no periods at all? That is strange. Too much estrogen usually causes the heavy bleeding (among other things) but going from too much estrogen to not enough to have a period is a red flag. I think you should have the ultrasound because something else is going on. Have they checked your thyroid?? I'd be surprised if they did not. Assuming that your thyroid is ok, and you are not really in menopause, you could have the nova sure endometrial ablation done for excessive bleeding. It is a new procedure,It effectively destroys the innerlining of your uterus so it cannot build up the blood which causes the bleeding. Depending on whether you are bleeding or not, Your hormones are not normal. I hope to hear! Talk to your doctor and learn how to tell them what YOU want.beckyrinker.

I had a friend who had non-stop periods (for about a year) and it was due to fibroid tumors. Her uterus was trying to expel them, hence the never-ending bleeding. She was incredibly ill from the anemia that the bleeding caused too.

My friend finally had a hysterectomy, as she had so much scarring in her uterus, she was never going to be able to conceive and she didn't want kids as well. Within weeks her energy levels totally changed and she's sooooo much healthier now.

I'd remind your doctors that the ultimate decision of what to do in regards to your body and health is your decision and I'd ask them why they aren't respecting your wishes. Then I'd contact your state medical board and ask them if it's their policy for doctors to ignore the requests of patients.

Well the Dr has been doing tons of blood test and ultrasounds. I have pof (early menophause). My
Dr tried to stop me from going through menopause but it didn't work just made me bleed really bad. The Dr is just going to let me go though menopause and she put me on something for my bones to keep them healthy. They did the menopause test twice just to make sure. Only 1 out of 250,000 people between 14-35 will go through this. Dee

Not to get to personal but did you start you periods way early?

I started when i was 8yrs old and by the time i was 12 i stop completly and when i was 15 i had gone into menopause and have to take pills that made me sick some times i would start some times not but i always had pms from them!!! and it got worse untill i started then bleed like a stuck pig!!! I take some regular bc pills maybe 1 a year to start and then stop taking them. I have always had periods taht lasted 7-20 days and past clots and im 26!!! they will not do a hist. on me because its not life threating and i dont have kids mainly because i dont have kids!!!or insurince!!!

if you can find a female gyno that will lisson to you and you can tell her ALL of whats going on she will be your best bet but if she is in the MUST HAVWE KIDS MODE and you dont have kids drop her!!!

Yes, I have had my thyroid checked by my regular Dr and my OBYN Dr too. I stated my periods when I was 13 years old. I really never had normal periods I only had my periods every other month, but other than that they were normal. I have been fight for a hist. for 4 years and all I get is that I'm too young. This Dr that I have now is very nice and we have talked about hist., but she wants me to try different things and I'm game for it.

If you've ruled out gyn issues, ask for a referral to a hematologist. Many times bleeding that won't stop is due to a bleeding disorder. It is worth looking into since you are so anemic.

Thats kinda funny that you bring that up because they sent me there first (hematologist). Since my blood count was so low they thought that I had cancer of some type. But I didn't all my test came back normal. I was anemic only when I had my periods. As long as I don't have a period I'm not anemic.

Regardless of the cause, bleeding like that is incredibly draining. I had a horrible episode last christmas that took me months to bounce back from. I found the hormones helped me considerably. There are specialist in gyn endocrinology - perhaps that sort of doc can help you find a pill that works better.
