Albion Inn is Chester's (England), last unspoilt three room Victorian corner pub complete with open real fire in cast iron and tile fire place - William Morris wallpaper and cast iron and machine base tables. The pub is completely dedicated to the Great War 1914 - 18. With pictures and artifacts appertaining to that period abounding, also many other interesting period pieces such as enamel signs and illuminated petrol pump tops. There is a large selection of malt whiskies and choice of 4 real ales available. Family hostile and zero tolerance of lager louts - frequent visits by dwindling first world war veteran groups. Very much a Grown ups pub (no children) but well behaved dogs are allowed. A city centre corner pub facing the city walls between the Newgate and River Dee. Vehicle access from lower Bridge Street turning left to enter Duke Street.

I just wish they were nearer home.

Love the fact that well-behaved dogs are allowed! In fairness, most dogs behave far better than children in public places!
Will make a note of this place for the next time i go to the u.k.

I wish we had more establishments in my neighborhood that disallowed children.

On a positive note, hubby and I went to see the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra at the Hilbert Circle Theatre on Saturday night. When I ordered my tickets, I noticed among the rules of the establishment that children under six are not welcome at the Theatre. I would have set the age a little older, but I'm glad they had a rule there at all. Needless to say, the performance we went to was wonderful and not once interrupted by any wailing children. <img src="/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />

If only places would have adults only nights. At least my concert choices are 18 and over. Or there'd be nowhere to go without the crumbsnatchers!

I wish the well-behaved dogs allowed would happen in the US. I loved the fact people brought their w-b dogs with them in restaurants in Germany.

Oh, man. The band I really like, never play at over-18 or over-21 venues in my state. It's so depressing because while there are a lot of adult fans, there are also a lot of middle school and even kid fans as well. (we won't talk about my feelings about the appropriateness of letting your 6-or-8-or-10-year-old listen to and go to concerts of a band that has songs dealing with stuff like abortion and self-mutilation and pedophilia and use of the f-word, including a common "live version" line in one song of "I can even f*ck him in the @ss")

A lot of theatres near me have "no kids under 18 allowed after 10"--well, we have local curfews in e ffect during the school year too so that's part of it. But they can't be in the malls during school hours unless they're accompanied by an adult. So, it's all in picking the when and not just the where.

I honestly don't mind kids in most venues (bars and concerts are out) as long as mom and dad are in the control seat.

Bad parents make bad kids.
