My hair is driving me insane! It is three different types ranging from delicate, whispy and kinked up to thick (strands), strait, heavy and it gets frizzy all over. My hair was curly as a kid, but now it's just a mess. There is no real, natural curl left. It will wave, but if I let it dry naturally, it goes flat at the roots, frizzy and out of control through the rest. Friss Ease helps a little, but it makes the thicker, heavier parts feel too greasy while the light, whispy parts seem unaffected by the product and still go nuts at the slightest hint of humidity. I use a stratening iron, which helps smoothe everything down, but the wave takes over, no matter the hair cut, and makes it look terrible. I have been trying to grow out my hair for years, but it always ends up getting poufy at the ends which makes my head look like a mushroom. Because the underlayers are so strait and heavy, a layered cut looks like a mistake because the top layers are so mich lighter and tend to fluff up and wave no matter what, unless I want my hair to look greasy and stringy. The "curls" in my hair are so huge, that only a really long hair do would look right without a lot of fuss, but I can't get past the shoulders with it. It grows SO slow! I trimmed it last time because it was so uneven and because the ends wouldn't lay nice for more than half an hour. They tend to bend up and try to curl but don't succeed. I've tried going natural, and tried helping the curl along, but no matter what, it does what it wants and the curl looks really bad this short. The front is worst. The parts around my face want to curl up but only go crazy, frizzy and all over the place. Parts of a strand will start to curl right, but the rest goes the wrong direction, kinks, gets frizzy and the more product i use, even if it is meant to help activate curls, only wiegh down the hairs and makes them look stringy and dirty. I am at a complete loss! Humidity makes a strait do go all "wahooni shaped" within 10 minutes! And to top it off, my hair is so thick that I need the right cut for it to lay right and I have never been able to find a hair dresser who can do it. They use the wrong, "if this then that," rules for my hair. I think the curls throw them off. I am beginning to think I need someone who knows how to cut, as my Japanese roommate phrased it, "Japanese hair," because, despite the curl, it tends to act, basically, the same way. If it was strait by nature, it would be exactly the same except the color. I don't know what to do!!!

I wish I could give you a miracle product or prescription but dealing with curly, frizzy, wavy hair is almost always trial and error.
I suggest using only moisturizing shampoo and conditioners such as: Nioxin Smoothing Systems, Matrix Sleek Look, Redken Smooth Down or All Soft. Each one of these lines has smoothing styling products also. If you layer good quality smoothing products, they don't get greasy or stringy looking even if you use a lot of them.
My hair is fine and curly/frizzy and sometimes I put so much on that if feels 'slimy' before it drys but afterward it feels and looks clean.
Recently it has been super humid here so I have been using Nioxin Silk Elixir, ARTec Blow Serum, Nioxin Pure Shine Gel adding some LC Legacy Styling Gel for more control, and LC Legacy Shine & Protect. My hair stays clean feeling for 2 days.
To grow it out, trim a tiny bit - about 1/8 to 1/4 inch every 2 months to keep the ends from splitting and looking worse. That way you are getting at least 3/4 inch of grow every 2 months.

Thanks for the product tips and the growing tip. I'll try some of that, see how it works. Oh, and side note, my grandfather grew that kind of rose when he was alive. There are still some growing around the old house.

I've never been successful with roses - or any flowers that need care . I went to a greenhouse near home and took pictures of several different kinds of flowers. I'll be changing the avatar once in a while.

Why don't you see about getting your hair permanently straightened? My hair used to be, basically, a bush. It was wavy and frizzy and I hated it. Then I found out you could get it permanently straightened. It's like a cream, and the hairdresser treats your hair with it, and it makes your hair poker straight. It takes a few hours, but it's well worth it. It lasts like a permanent hairdye, but slightly longer.. like, as your roots start growing back, they will eventually start to curl. When I had it done, it was a few months before I got any sign of kinks at my roots, and then I just got it redone. The price depends on the length of your hair, but I think shoulder-length was about 30-40, and the root touch up was 20. It worked so well I don't need it anymore, cos I have some good straighteners, but it's very effective.
