We have well water, and even so we have a Brita water filter that we use for our drinking water. We also have a fridge with a water and ice dispenser, but to be honest it takes SO long for the water to dribble out of the fridge that it's just easier to pour it out of the Brita.
Also for some strange reason I don't like cold water, I think it hurts my teeth. So I like room temperature water ...

I drink it straight from the tap. I do not like cold water either.

At work I drink bottled water. The tap just has an off taste... and an odor (local water is pulled from a lake and it still smells lakish even though my office has a filter on the tap).
At home I drink from the tap. We have in-line filters to drop sediment (calcium) levels down.

There's a theory that if you drink cold water it gives you a slight health benefit because your body has to use energy to "warm it up" to your body temperature, so you are burning calories just by drinking it. Maybe I should try to train myself to like colder water ...

Do you have an option of well or filtered water, or is it more that you're at work or something where all the water there is bad?

Our cities water isn't that great. It comes from a lake.

We have the "Rhino" whole house water filter by Aquasana. It removes chlorine, flouride, and other toxins...
When we're out, we try to buy bottled water..

Jan - isn't it interesting that some people deliberately add flouride to their water systems, when many researchers have shown that it's great to put ON teeth (i.e. brushing) but not good at all to ingest in large quantities! How did we ever go from "good to brush with twice a day" to "good to drink into your stomach in large quantities"?

I have well water. It is filtered by a triple filtration system that filters ALL the water coming into the house. It is GREAT! My water is severe 'iron water'....before the filter, the water made all the white towels, the white dishes and even my white dog go oddly yellow or orange.
Now everything is back to normal...and yes, I had to replace the towels and dishes. The dog's fur grew back sparkling white!

I drink bottled water because I have found that I drink so much more of it. Easier to grab on the go, carry etc; I will drink a full bottle just running errands or taking the kids to sports. Great to have sitting by the computer also!!

Yes, it's a toxin!!!!! We have this great pediatric dentist here in Orlando. We saw him last week and I told him we were moving to SC. He went on to tell me how important it was to make sure there was FLOURIDE in our city water there and if there wasn't we needed to BUY water with flouride in it.
I explained that in our family we believe flouride is a toxin and actually have a whole house filter to remove it and other chemicals..LOL He said, "Oh, then just continue with your regimen."

Jeez I can't believe pediatricians are still pushing flouride water. If a kid brushes twice a day, that is more than enough floride to keep their teeth safe. More than that is loading your system down with a chemical that has some pretty nasty side effects ...

Well, since my husband works for Coca-Cola - I tend to drink Dasani!
But I really like those sparkling waters that Aquafina makes (even though they are put out by the other guys).
But we also have a Pur pitcher that has the filter in the pitcher, so we can filter our tap water, too.

No flouride in our water here in New Orleans, but lots of e.coli post Katrina. Needless to say, we drink bottled water at our house and have an RO system installed.

Yes I imagine pretty much any home in New Orleans will need a water filter, which all in all isn't a bad thing. We have well water here but we still use a Brita filter before we drink it ...

House water is pulled from a huge, community well system. It tastes great, but is highly calcified. We killed a variety of coffee makers, dishwashers and washing machines before we gave in and bought a water softener and filters for the house.
The water at work is pulled from a lake and is treated with city treatment facilities. You get the lake smell plus the chemical smell and then the taste... ugh. So bottled water at work all the time.

We drink Crystal Springs Water and have a hot/cold water machine. Our family loves it, as we have fresh clean hot or cold water instantly. I have tried filters on our facet and had tests done from the water tap, and they still found junk in the water. I recommend that anyone who has an older home and has lead pipes, have them replaced. My father died of cancer in 1990 because he drank 8 glasses of water a day that contained heavy amounts of lead. He died of cancer. My family was drinking bottled water and we just recently signed up for Crystal Springs water.

Wow, I wouldn't have thought that lead pipes would cause cancer, but I suppose it depends how the pipes work. If the water just sits at a junction point for 10 hours straight against the lead, then I bet it could leech a good amount of lead into the water and then you drink it. I always think of lead crystal, but liquids don't sit in those glasses for very long. That's a very good thing to keep in mind.

I drink the filtered water that comes outof my fridge. When i'm upstairs it's out of the tap, but I have a whole house filtration system.
As for flouride, it is SO dangerous, physically and cosmetically.

Whole house filtration is good - but apparently those pipes themselves in the house can be a problem! I hadn't thought of that before. We have a filter in our fridge for downstairs, and the Brita filter. Upstairs we have an under-sink filter for the cold water only, for the bathroom sink there. I guess it means I can't drink the water while taking a shower

We have the Aquasana "Rhino" Whole House Filter which removes chlorine, flouride, etc from the water before it enters our house.

We have a filter on our kitchen sink for home use and drink bottled water on the go. YOu're right, if you have the bottles, you tend to drink more of it.
In ORegon we had well water and it tasted great but I don't really trust city water.

My husband swears by Poland Springs. When he moved to Missouri a few years ago he almost died of dehydration b/c you cannot get Poland Springs here.

Well, its rather ironic, but we own a Water Softening Company, but do you believe I prefer bottle water?! For some reason I just enjoy the coldness and taste better. It is also just more convenient to grab a bottle, since I am on the go alot.

I am extremely picky when it comes to drinking water.
In a previous job I sold water filters amoung other things. Our water filter supplier was extremely keen and as a result we had to attend four, very boring 4-hour training sessions on water filters. I did however learn a lot.
I never realised how much rubbish they put in our local water. It only gets worse all the time.
I also learnt that there are filters that will do virtually nothing and there are filters that can take almost everything out. I know all the [censored] that is in the local water. At the moment, you wash your hands from the tap and you will smell very strongly of chlorine. Have a shower and you will come out smelling like you have gone swimming at the local swimming pool which is heavily chlorinated.
I will only drink water from a reverse osmosis unit.
I have a friend who has several tanks and has offered to fill up my bottles with his tank water, but I know the rubbish that is in that too - it is scary. As I only live on my own it is more economical for me to purchase bottled water than new filters each year. I drink "Nobles pureau water" It is the only one that I can find that is guaranteed to be 100% pure.

I drink bottled water, usually Dasani or Aquafina. I find that they really do taste better than other brands.

My favorite is Fiji, and I also like Evian. I am trying to stop drinking bottled water though- it's worse for the environment.....
But I do like it more.
Do you think it's all in people's head? Bottled water as opposed to tap?

I do not think that it is in people's heads at all. I live in an area where the water quality is very poor. I wouldn't go around drinking household chemicals and I wouldn't drink the water that is coming out of my tap as it is laced with a similar amount of chemicals. It cannot do us any good at all. If you think that it is bad for the environment to drink bottled water, invest in a GOOD QUALITY (and I emphasize GOOD QUALITY) water filter. Water is the most precious resource that we have. Water makes up a large percentage of our bodies. We need to ensure that we are partaking of the best quality water possible for our health. You cannot put a price on health. Without it, life is damn miserable.

Here in New Orleans, we often have contaminated water post Katrina. Since bottled water is more expensive than gasoline, I installed a reverse osmosis system for drinking water. I figure it will pay for itself in about 6 months.

I drink tap water at home. But I don't like tap water anywhere else. I'll buy Dasani or any other bottled water. And I love my water COLD COLD COLD
