Does anyone know how one can test patterns for crochet and/or tatting? I've recently retired and have the time to devote to my favorite crafts, and I'd love to try out patterns for the magazine companies and find the mistakes before they get printed. I've joined CGOA and filled out their form, but no results yet. Anyone have any ideas for me? Patti

Hi Patti and welcome.

I would suggest posting on the tatting mailing lists such as Tat-chat (www.tat-chat.org) if you want to test tatting patterns before they get printed - there aren't very many tatting magazines though and the best known one is sent out twice yearly from www.ringoftatters.org.uk

You could always write to the magazines which publish crochet patterns and ask them if they need help with testing patterns. Most of them have web sites through which you would be able to contact them via e-mail.

Thanks, Gail, I'll look up that web site and follow your suggestions. Should be interesting, and I'll learn more in the process.

Just an update on this topic, folks. I did join Ring of Tatters and received their folksy 2005 big book. I'm reading through it and getting lots of tips.

Leen from our forum contacted me. She has some patterns for me to test. So, I'm happily tatting away...did even find a few changes I'd make in the patterns.

I've finished another crochet/tatting doily with beads.

Crafting is soooooo much fun!
