Does anyone know the best way to finish off and weave in ends on a pattern when it says to do so??

Your ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Chris,( Just my way )
When I end a project , I make a ch 1 to the end of the pattern, then leave enough yarn (3 inches )then, take a smaller size needle and hide the end into the work by weaving , in , out, under , between any why I can to HIDE that end.
Making sure the end is long enough to stay put after wear or use.
I have heard of so many ladies not leaving enough yarn to weave in, or tying off tight, then after
the item comes unraveled . <img src="/images/graemlins/mad.gif" alt="" />

I weave mine in going in one direction for a bit, then turn it back on itself going in the opposite direction.

I "weave" the same as suggested above, but if this confuses you, something I teach my students to do is leave a 5" end (make sure you finish off with a tight sc first) and then just take a large tapestry needle and "sew" in and out the end until it is too short to sew anymore, then cut off the tiny excess.

That's what i use (tapestry needle) to do all my weaving. you can really get the tail in tight that way, and in between the stitches.
