I can't figure out how to put up at picture with my posts. I'd like to use a picture of myself that I have on my computer, but don't know how to do it. I figure that if I like to see the person who is leaving a post, then, quite possibly others do as well.

Can anybody help me to figure out how to do this?

Beverly,

Click on the "My home" option at the top of the forums, and that will take you to the area where you can change and set all of your forum preferences. From there, you pick the edit option that follows "personal information, email, password, etc" The place you change your avatar is in there.

I've gone there, but where it allows me to put a picture of my own, it asks for an BellaOnline ALERT: For anti-spam reasons, we restrict the number of URLs allowed in a given post. You have exceeded our maximum number of URLs.

Beverly,

You have to have your picture up on the web someplace accesible, not just stored in your files on your computer.

I'm afraid I'm answering this late at night, while on migraine meds so hand with me. I wrote this someplace else trying to explain it...

Quote:
This may be a dumb question back for you, but do you actually have it on your server?

You're not trying to just send it from your documents are you? (No offense, but not everyone on here knows how to do that)

OK, I know how to DO this, but not sure how to explain it.

The forum can't just go into your home computer and access your files. It has to be out in the "front yard" so to speak - the server that connects you to the internet.

We use a program called "SecureFX" that allows me to easily load things onto my server (kind of the brains that holds all the info of your computer and network) to transport to other servers like bellaonline's.

You need to find out where your server is, ours is private because my husband does this for a living- we have our own website - www.the-taylor-family.org, so mine is pretty easy. Then find out how to upload your graphics onto it (and if they have storage space.

Hopefully this will make some sense to you. If not, give me a yell, and i'll try to talk you thru it when I'm less "fuzzy - brained" <img src="/images/graemlins/crazy.gif" alt="" />

What Michelle says is right, the picture has to be uploaded on the internet somewhere and can't be uploaded from a desktop.

Beverly ,
I will give you > a Photobucket site , that will allow you to choose pictures from your files and store them in a picture file for you to be able to choose 3 ways to get your picture information on to a site.

Each forum uses a different one of the options.
I have to try each onr on this BELLA forum to see which one shows a picture or comes up as an Address for my picture post.
You can check which shows on the board and choose which one you will use.

You will have to make a smaller picture for an Avatar, since the space is small.

Some information I had saved >>>

1. Go to www.Photobucket.com and register with your name and password, it is free even though they would like a donation.
2. After you register you will receive an email, you will need to go the link that is in the email. Make sure that you save this email incase you forget your password.
3. Then you put in your password and you can start sending Photobucket a picture at a time. In the middle of the window you will see a box and then the word Browse, click on it and go to where you pictures are on your computer. Click Open.
4. Then hit submit...it takes a little bit for your picture to go from your computer to Photobucket and then back again to your computer.
5. Once it comes back there are 3 different buttons at the top....Move...Edit...Delete. If you want to make your picture smaller then you would hit Edit, once you make it smaller according to the website you can't make it bigger.
6. Under you picture you will see 3 windows....URL....Tag....Img.
Choose one> hit it which will highlight it, copy it and paste it into your post.

It is as simple as that....Photbucket saves all of your pictures for you in your own folder.

Thanks so much Mother Hen. Believe it or not, this was one of the sites that I'd already registered for ages ago, but forgot about it. I've saved it now so that I can use it in the future.

Again, many thanks.

Oh, I suffer from migraines also. I've learned that I can't deal with caffeine. Since I've quit using caffeine, chocolate and other items that contain chocolate (some root beer), I have much fewer migraines. But, I understand about the strong drugs to get rid of the pain.

Oh, BTW, I love your pic. Very classy.
