I'd heard from an acupuncturist that it's good for middle-age women to move their hips, as a way of helping other neck and back issues. Plus, I tend to sit at a keyboard all day long and I literally wanted a way to "shake things up."

And voil, bellydance does both.

yey!!isntr that awesome!!and how long have you been dancing rae?
I visited greece and turkey as a young child,i loved the music and the bellydancing,I saw this in turkey, the men and the women having great music and a party on the boat,I remember a man making his belly like a snake,it was amazing!!

then in the library i saw a bellydancing video,by hilary thacker and by jaqueline chapman,I was so happy.

I first was happier with jaqueline chapman, then moved on to hilary thacker, now I also love veena and neena, theres so many styles that I love.

bellydancing isnt a hobby, its a way of life,a new life

hugs and smiles

I just started taking belly dance about six weeks ago and I've never had any dance or movement training in my life, so sometimes it's definitely outside my comfort zone. But I also think it's important for me to be doing this.

I am taking tribal belly dance classes. I saw that style in performance many times in SF and knew when I moved that I would look for someone teaching that style.

it's really popular on the West Coast, so the bigger troups tend to be doing a fair amount of that style
