Hey, Im trying to complete the list for fiends oversouled. I have most of them and Im not having any problems with the normal random ones, but how do you get the boss fiends oversouled? The ones that you only fight 1 time such as Boris from Mt Gagazet in chapter 1 and Zalamander and The Bevelle bosses on levels 20,40,60,80 and the final one right before trema? Anybody know?

I think that oversoul happens every 10th monster (of one type). Unfortunatly, if this is correct, you will have to play the game 10 times if you want to oversoul bosses that can only be encountered once. I have not tested this, but you should be able to test it by keeping track of how many of each monster you meet. If you get an oversoul on every 10th one this is probably the case.

Let me be the first to say I was wrong, so very wrong.

I am still not sure if Oversouls are every 10th monster or just a 1/10 chance, but there are not any monsters that can only be encountered once in the Beastiary. All Bosses from earlier in the game can be encountered in the Via Infinito dungeon. Paragon can be found by re-entering the last floor of the Via Infinito. I just beat Trema for the second time and re-entered the last level. Paragon appears there and he Oversouled the first time I fought him.

Tidus, are you sure about the ten number? for some reason, I keep thinking it was the 13th monster...

I got Paragon oversouled the first time I fought him by fighting the Omega Weapons before I got to him. Just go lucky on the number. But he is a lot easier oversouled than he is normal.

The game excludes the monsters that you can only fight once. But remember, it's not how many times you've encountered the exact monster, but how many times you've encountered the species.

Yes, it is the species, and it is every 20th not 10th or 13th I figured out the details after I posted. Auron and I have discussed all the details via PM. You were correct in pointing out that this is based on species, not the individual monsters.
