Can anyone settle an arguement for me. Did one of the Steiner brothers train for the olympics? I can't find any information that confirms or contridicts this. I have even checked their wikiepedia profiles and guess what. No mention at all. Am I being lead up the garden path? Any help winning this arguement will be greatfully recieved

WE'RE not aware of anything like that. Both brothers were All-American, but no one we know has ever heard of them being Olympic-caliber. Something to consider is TRAINING for the Olympics and then actually trying out are two VERY different things. If he TRIED OUT, likely that would be listed somewhere in his official bio dating back to his NWA Crockett years, and hyped on TV, even if he didn't make the cut. The Steiners have never come up as being on par wrestling-wise with guys like Brock, Bobby Lashley, or any other NCAA-class wrestler, so our thoughts are that they may have been good enough for All-American, they probably would not have been able to advance much further than that.

Also, we wouldn't rely on Wikipedia too much, because most of the fake Von Erich stories that The Observer and the Torch have debunked (Kerry would have made the Olympics, were it not boycotted, David died of Enteritis rather than OD on drugs, et al) are all there as factual.

Rick Steiner considered trying out for the Olympics but I do not know why he didn't do so. Ric was by far the better pure wrestler of the two (still is).

I always considered Scott the better skilled of the Steiners. I'm talking about the Classic Steiner days now, not Big Pappa Pump.

Was Rick a better Amateur Wrestler?

From what I have read, Rick did have superior amateur skills but Scott was certainly an excellent wrestler as well.

Thanks for that guys. I went back to the "source" of this information and my friend told me he had read it in a magazine article about the olympic games while sitting in the dentists waiting room. Which makes me wondr if the statement was true in the first place. The only thing I've read about the olympics concerning wrestling was an article about Stu Hart.I thank everyone for their comments on this.
I have to agree that Rick is definately the better wrestler of the two but my kids would say Scott. They haven't really had a chance to see Rick.

Yeah remember when Scott Steiner would do all that high flying stuff off the top turnbuckle? He used to incorporate that with his smashmouth & mat wrestling style. Ever since he changed his look to that bleach blonde look, he just wrestles smashmouth now.
And why does he keep wearing that ridiculous metallic thing over his head?
