I just finished my first month on the pill, and I had unprotected sex on the last day before I started the placebo. After 2 days of nothing, Ive finally got some bloodhardly enough to even wear a light tampon though. Normally, on the first 3 days of my period (which will last at least 6 days), its so heavy that I bleed through a super plus in less than an hour. Is my body reacting to the changes from the pill, or might I be spotting because Im pregnant? Did anyone else experience a drastic period change when they started the pill?

Yes. And breakthrough bleeding (bleeding when you're on the hormone cycle of the pill). And even no bleeding at all.
If you're concerned, contact your doctor or clinician.

If you took the pill for an entire month as directed you most likely are not preg and it's breakthrough bleeding from the hormones in the pill, totally and completely normal.
If in doubt take a preg test in a week and talk to your doc.

I appreciate it =) Even since I posted that this morning I've started to get some tell-tale cramps...so the worry is alleviated! (even if the cramps are not

The pill will change the amount of flow, so it will generally be lighter than you are used to. Most everything about your period will probably change. So no worries.

Hi,
I'll throw my 2 cents in. I'm glad you are starting to feel the familiar cramping, so you can relax a bit. I was just going to agree with the other wise words here.
Yes, your flow will change. Even the amount/strength of cramping, also. Completing the first 3 weeks completes your max level of protection, having sex one day prior should be a very very miniscule risk. In addition, the timing of that sex should have been a good several days after what could have been any ovulation. Which the pill shuts down.
I'm glad you found your way here, and got some reassurances that you needed!

and even if you did ovulate on the pill, another function of the pill is to make your uterus so inhospitable the egg won't implant even if it wants to. Now, you have to take the pill perfectly for this benefit. People get pregnant on the pill every day but almost every single time they did something wrong, skipped a day or took it in the morning instead of at night, etc.

Well, it looks like you already got your answer, but just for a little more reassurance: Yep, totally normal. =) The same thing happened to me, too and i was scared crapless. xD
But i freaked out over nothing.
But if you're just totally unsure about this, ever, just go see your doctor.
