I got a note the other day from a reader asking if she should trim back her petunias as they were getting leggy. Absolutely! I've been noticing that if you don't give them a trim now after the first round of big blooms, not only do the blooms get fewer, they get smaller. Also, if you planted with a time-release, it's time to give them another dose.

Deadheading now will give most annuals a new lease on life and bring on a new flush of blossoms.
