the taxes thing is even more frustrating, especially when you take a look at what they are wasting money on besides welfare.
I definitely know I'm not jealous. My sister has 5 and yet we can talk about other things. Adult things. I'd always been younger than most people I worked with in the past and was able to develop friendships with people who already had kids and were moving on to bigger and better things. Like spending time with their SO or friends and doing things like going to Vegas withough a stroller in tow (that just fascinates me by the way). I've only been in my present home for over 2 years and I can't seem to meet anyone who isn't obsessed with their kids. I'm starting over in a new state and live in suburbia. They are frickin' everywhere. So the looks are starting again. I have nothing to say to these people, because I can't even get to know them. I know more about their kids. which I don't care to know. but where do you go to talk to adults?

Independent woman, I totally hear where you are coming from.
It annoys the hell out of me that people think having children is the most enormous accomplishment. I'm graduating from university this year and don't recieve half the attention or comendment that pregnant women do.
What really annoys the hell out of me is how some (not all) parents are constantly reminding people how having children is the most wonderful thing in the world. It actually makes me quite skepticial. If they were so happy with their decision, they wouldn't have to remind us every 5 minutes!

If motherhood doesn't interest you, don't do it. It didn't interest me, so I didn't do it. Anyway, I would have made a terrible parent. The first time my child didn't do what I wanted, I'd kill him." --Katherine Hepburn

I know how you feel, Stacey 84. There are a lot of things that are greater accomplishments than having kids (such as getting a degree, running a marathon, etc). Getting pregnant just requires being on your back for a few minutes.
I agree that people who are constantly trying to convince other people to have kids aren't truly happy (or are just nuts and delusional). I wonder sometimes if it's a misery loves company attitude ... I'm stuck with kids, and I want someone to be in my boat and share my unhappiness.
