I recommend The Proper [color:"green"] [/color] Care and Feeding of Husbands by Laura Schlessinger. Anyone else?

I don't really care much for Dr. Laura's book.

But, if you want a good laugh, try Men are from Mars/Women are from venus.

What was it that you didn't like about the book, Lyn?

The whole women should be door-mats concept leaves me cold.

Husbands are grown-ups and quite capable of taking care of themselves. Marriage needs two active participants to work.

"The Five Love Languages"

a friend gave us each a copy of this book when we got engaged; and then our Sunday School class went through the series about two years after we were married. It's a wonderful look at how people express love differently. Not just men vs. women, but everyone.

It really makes you look at your spouse differently when you understand how he expresses/ feels loved.

I agree with you, marriage should have two active participants. I think the book didn't promote wives as doormats, but rather, encouraged them to take some responsibility for their own actions towards their husbands.
The whole "it takes two to tango" concept, lol.

What Women Wish Their Husband Knew Dr. Dobson (i think how u spell his name heh.) And Also What Men Wish Their Wives knew.

The Walk Out Woman ( can't remember who wrote that one) My husband i both read it.


If u want a good series to read together. "Sword of Truth" By Terry Goodkind.

"Holy Matrimony:Now That We're Married"
by DeBorrah K. Ogans.

This book was just released June 2006. It addresses some of the current issues facing marriages and provides some excellent advice for couples on how to apply biblical principles for a healthy and holy marriage. Our church uses it in our Counseling Ministry and Relationship classes.

Is this book slanted in any one religious way? We are not all of the same religious belief here in the Marriage Forum although we respect all opinions and ask that all be respected by all posters. <img src="/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />
