Um. Hmmm. Toothpaste, eh? my mother used to use toothpaste on mosquito bites, i tried it but it didnt help. I can't say I've ever heard of it for acne, maybe if it had peroxide in it I could see the peroxide drying the acne out.

I'd try tea tree oil, it's a natural antiseptic/antifungal/topic antibiotic and not full of the crud that is in your typical toothpaste. Commercial toothpaste has some really nasty stuff in it.

I use to apply toothpaste. Is acts as a drying up agent. Don't know if the new type gels would work. The white pasty kind is what I used.

Did work for me..

This sounds very interesting.
Difficult to believe but must be true.

I may have tried this when I was a teenager. I have heard it helps to dry out pimples.

This is said by many people. But it sounds more like a myth to me. A toothpaste must contain something that can either-

reduce sebum production,
open the blocked gland,
kill P.acnes

I don't know any ingredient in toothpaste that does any of these three.

I've tried it, and it does dry the pimple out but leaves it so red and inflamed that it's not worth it. Don't recommend it.

It does work. I found it dries up the excess grease that produces spots. I suppose it's the alkaline neutralising the acid? Well, regardless of the science, it definitely worked for me.

My sis use to swear by this method. I am almost 40, when will I outgrow acne?

Have a blessed day-
