[color:"blue"] I work at home right now, and I was wondering how many other childfree ladies out there either work at home or outside.

Hi,
I realize that I am not a childless women but I do enjoy working from home.
I've been a stay at home mom for the last 4 years who needed to earn an income at the same time.
Deciding to stay home was a very hard decision as I wanted a successful career but when my maturnity leave was ending and my daughter who was turning one was still very needy of me and only me it became apparent that I needed to stay home.
For income I ran a dayhome for 2 years and have been working off and on for the last year. Going back to work after being off has been hard, even in Alberta where there is a huge need for workers.
Presently, I am faced with a decision, take a position where I work from home on a contract basis but is 100% commission. Or take a position where I work out of an office with a base plus commission.
One offers my flexibility and automonomy. Which has value.
The other offers me security with unlimited potential. This has value as well.
I know a lot of the pros and cons of working from home but I am interested to know if anyone else can share the cons they have faced working from home verses working in an office.

I work outside the home at a law firm. We have some women moms who work partly at the office and partly at home (supposedly anyway; I hear mention of a lot of mid-day playdates and facials). Ive thought about asking if I could work partly at home just to see what the powers-that-be might say, but in reality I think I lack the necessary discipline. Itd be too tempting to sneak off on my own playdates.

[color:"magenta"] They are not working, they are goofing off, like at the mall.

I work full-time outside the home. If i had a choice, i'd probably work a slightly shorter week, so that i could keep my home the way i'd like. As my husband and i both work full-time, the theory is that we share the housework. Like many theories, it doesn't always pan out in reality..... He will vacuum, but not around the edges of a room! He will only use disposable wipes to clean worksurfaces... He cleans his bathroom about once a quarter (thank god we don't have to share). He leaves stuff lying around constantly; it seems to become invisible to him once he's dropped it.
I won't go on; i think you can all identify to a greater or lesser extent! It's always hard living with another person.
Sorry for having gone slightly o/t, can't seem to stick to a point today!

I can most definitely identify with that! My husband still thinks he's living in his college frat house..."no, sweetheart, it's not cool to flick your beer caps across the room and try to 'make a basket' in the kitchen" (the fact that he actually makes it sometimes tells you how tiny our apartment is)....and "no, you can't store your bike in the living room...." To be fair, he does run the vacuum (when asked) and he's good about putting his dirty clothes in the hamper and his dishes in the dishwasher. It could be worse - there could be kids involved...
Mother always said that even when things seem bad there's someone else who's having a worse day. Like being stung by a bee or getting a splinter or being chained to the wall in someone's sex dungeon.
