But there are no wrong answers

You're right Alexa, this kind of topic can never have a final answer either.

Elle, wow, you really didn't like Sin City! For me it was the opposite. Watching it was exactly like reading a comic. Basin City became a real place, with a real nasty feel, yet still so stylish. The voiceover's were great (mainly thanks to Frank Miller's awesome writing) and Marv's sequnce was one of the most exciting setpieces I have seen for a long time. The uncut and extended USA DVD release is the way to go for all you Sin City fans here, ti's really good.

Jackie Brown, coming straight afterwards, disappointed me enormously

Agreed, nowhere near as good as Pulp Fiction or Dogs. Kill Bill has grown on me with a few re-watches though.

If this thread was about the most over rated movies ever, then Lock, Stock would be in my list. It's still just an average movie to me.

Magnolia - that makes my list of worst ever movies

This is...unforgivable! The sequence when they all sing 'Wise Up' and we see all the different characters is without a doubt one of the most emotional, impressive and beautifully handled scenes in modern cinema. Cracking acting all round too.

Apart from this, I actually agree with most things you say about the movies, I jsut wouldn't called them 'the worst' Maybe I have just seen more bad movies! Not sure what that says about my viewing habits.

Sorry for the DP.

Vincent D'onofrio's usually pretty reliable, I agree. But he couldn't rescue The Cell. Nor could the FX. It was the Director's fault. Another seal of badness is a music vid director turned movie director, and The Cell had this. Fast editing, no plot and loud noises do not a movie make. Worryingly, he is supposed to be doing the remake of Westworld according to Imdb!

Spice World. Oh dear, oh dear. Where's the vomiting smilie when you need him!

"Dusk 'till Dawn, Desperado, Pulp Fiction, Reservoir Dogs...top movies featuring QT"

Ick. Acting or directing, I can't stomach QT.

I'd rather sit through an eternity of Beverly Hills 90210 reruns than watch these.

I hated Pulp Fiction (my husband's fav.), but love QT. Four Rooms is one of my favorites. I liked Dusk till Dawn until the bar scene. I hated Two for the Road with Audrey Hepburn. It was BAD!! I couldn't get into the Giant with Rock Hudson and James Dean. Like Lock Stock and Snatch. But the movie that really made me want to hurt someone was Lemony Snicket's A Series of Unfortunate Events. I wanted my 2 hours back. It was HORRIBLE. The movie was the unfortunate event. Also Very Bad Things was painful.

But like my last article said It is all my opinion anyway...

I am absolutely loving this thread!

I never realized how truly different some of us were until I saw how we disagree on movies, LOL!

Some of us agree on politics, child-rearing, crime, and religion; but ask us about movies and no two people have the same opinions on anything.

"Lemony Snicket's" is a family favorite of ours - the 3 yr old watched it over and over again to begin with. (He loved the baby.) I define good movies (or movies I really like) by whether I go out and buy the DVD or just rent it.

And guess what folks...I own "Bring It On"! Yes! I admit it - although I do not own the sequel.

Ok- let me have it.

Pulp Fiction is my favorite Tarantino film but I do really love Four Rooms too, that's a great flick. And Judith I couldn't agree with you more on Very Bad Things! The title really sums up the movie. But Giant, gotta disagree with you there. I'd take James Dean picking his nose for two hours over any other film, any day, he's just mesmerizing. And I loved the plot. But I can easily see how it could rub you the wrong way--there are some very strange and offputting personalities in the film and the stillness of the plot, with the focus mainly on dialogue, really adds to that sense of creepiness.

Never seen Two for the Road and I've seen almost every Hepburn movie, so I'll have to check that one out. I'd almost be happy to know that she was capable of making a bad movie because she's always so fabulous.

I will try Giant again. My dad loves it. But I couldn't get into it. My husband is in love with Audrey, but asked about 20 mintues into the movie to put something else in.

Michelle- My brother in law has a bad habit of just buying movies and not knowing if it is good or not. He bought Lemony Snicket's A Series of Unfortunate Events and hated every minute of it. I think that cured him of that expensive habit.

I'm loving this thread too Michelle! I think it is so interesting to find out what people like about a movie (in this case) that you don't like and vice versa. I'm a typical Pisces in that I love to be shown a different perspective and I'll happily swim in your direction for a bit to see what you mean.

I agree with that Andy - this is a subjective list of movies that I didn't enjoy. "The worst movie ever made" is a difficult definition to fill and will always depend on who is compiling the list. But we can still have fun with it.

I don't remember the Magnolia sequence you mentioned. I must have zoned out by then. I'll Wiki it and see if it rings a bell.

I've been wracking my brain because I'm sure I've seen worse movies than the ones I listed, I've just blocked them out of my consciousness they were so awful.

Oh, and I want to add Good Will Hunting to the list of movies I didn't like.

(Dodging projectiles now...)

I'll add Rosemary's Baby to the list--for me the movie ended where the story should have begun. That brings up another movie which most people hated--Stigmata, I actually liked it. So Michelle, I'll see your Bring It On and raise you Stigmata.
