NSAI is a good organization for songwriters. This is the Nashville Songwriters Association International. NSAI is based in Nashville but has workshops in the major cities. It is like a college for songwriters. Lecturers discuss the basic techniques of melody and lyric writing. Songs are brought in my members, listened to and critiqued by the group. I have been a member and recommend it.
