I wrote a long commentary on the ECW PPV on myspace so I will copy and paste it here. I enjoyed it but I wasn't blown away by it like I was last year. Still, it served a purpose and some spots were sick!!

Here is what I poasted in my blog this Monday morning at about 5:30 a.m. which accounts for my rambling...

*****

The ECW PPV was on earlier and I really wanted to love it. I liked it. I didn't love it. Last year was SO great that this year paled in comparison.

The Foley/Edge vs Dreamer/Funk (with the chicks) match was sick. Almost too sick to enjoy really. I was so worried about poor old Terry. Gahh. I used to watch ECW PPVs constantly and none of that stuff bothered me. Now all I do is cringe when I see barbed wire, fire, tables, tacks (none in this match) or otherwise dangerous stuff.

Rey vs. Sabu was a little like a train wreck but booked smartly. You can't have either going over. But why the ECW mask, Rey?

Cena wasn't booed as badly as I expected and I laughed when the crowd continually threw his shirt back at him. Funnnnny. Obviously he will get his belt back. Or else it will be back but held up in some sort of tourney. But it is clear that the win was not clean (Weird that the crowd chanted "Thank you, Edge" when he wasn't helping RVD, he was just attacking Cena. Or was he? Hmmm). I thought he was going to unzip his jacket and show he was ECW too. That would have been kind of cool.

Anyway, yeah, controversy. A new ECW belt made for RVD on the Tuesday show. Cena either getting the belt back or the belt returning to Raw on Monday. Edge vs Cena on Monday (today! I better get to bed!)

I am sure Piper (A friend of mine, not Roddy) loved when Cena saluted like the good soldier he is. HAHA. But still, he did fine in a hostile environment and managed to look in his element when he was very much out of it.

JBL, the new voice of Smackdown. Shoot me.

Tag match was good but I wasn't thrilled with 911 er Big Show beating everyone up after. Now he has a feud. Show vs Guido. Both with "Big" before their names. How cute. Show needs pants and a tank top or T-shirt. No more Fred Flintstone attire please.

Tazz choking out Lawler. Let down. 35 seconds? Lawler is actually is far better shape than Tazz and he probably would have blown up after a minute if he tried to wrestle. The build up was better than the so called match. But ehhh...

There was NO reason for Eugene to waste our time. But Sandman coming out was good. His music is lame. In fact, everyone's is. They are doing things the WWE way which means no more cools songs. Sandman looks good for his age and all he has been through.

Balls vs. Tanaka. Sick chair shot. Ugh.

Angle vs. Orton was good. Not as good as their SD match from before but good. Orton is like, crazy or something. He was saying hello to all his fans as he was being helped to the back. lol. He sold the ankle well though, I have to admit, and Angle was able to protect himself and still look tough. Boy I sure missed Benoit about then. I thought maybe he would make an appearance. That is what is so puzzling about his sudden sabbatical. OK, so he is banged up but he can't show up and just be in the back or talk to someone or be seen? He was a part of ECW after all. Weird. And no Eddie. Ever again. *sigh* <img src="/images/graemlins/frown.gif" alt="" />

I liked Heyman's speech at the beginning but there were very few promos of any kind except for Lita who can't talk well. Beulah, who has been out of the spotlight for years, talks better on the mic.

So all in all, I would say the show was better than anything WWE has fed us in a year but nowhere near the quality of last year's PPV. There should have been at least ONE surprise. I don't count JBL talking trash about ECW as a surprise.

Oh well...now I have Raw on Mondays, ECW on Tuesdays, UFC and TNA on Thursdays, Smackdown on Fridays, and PPVs on Sundays. And, if I am so inclined Raw A.M.

That's a lotta rasslin' to keep up with!

I am off. If you saw the show, what did you think? I was definitely hoping to see more old school workers but it was what it was.

*****

So what DID you think?

I wasn't planning on it, but some friends ordered it so I watched.
Furious at the end!!! But hopefully this will mean good things for Edge and I'm all for that.

I was worried that they would make Cena look really weak, and that losing the belt would be something that he wouldn't live down. If anything, from what I've heard of the PPV, and Raw, he looks pretty darn strong. Makes me happy!

And you can't have Sandman coming out to any other music but "Enter Sandman" - that's all kinds of wrong, all kinds!

I have to say, I did enjoy the ppv but one thing annoyed me.

During (I think) Angle/Orton match I think it was Orton was walking round the ring when I saw what looked like an eight year old! Right at ringside!!! Now, I know it's WWE stars there but you'd think parents would not take their kids to see ECW live? I may not have seen ECW before (apart from last year's One Night Stand) but even I know it's not the place for kids. Also, shouldn't either WWE or the organisers be stopping kids that age from going in? Not only because of the blood and guts but also (especially?) the language!

Listen to me - I sound like my mum and dad! <img src="/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

Oh - news for the Brits. ECW's weekly show is being broadcast on Sky Sports 3 on Sundays. There's the "edited for content" version at 9am and the "late night" version at 10pm same day.

Definitely NO kids should have seen that hardcore tag match. *I* got shivers watching it.

As for the ECW show, there was one segment that may be edited of a girl stripping but she showed nothing (hands covered her breasts). Bad first show. Hope it finds its niche.
