I've been toying with the idea of using the L'oreal ColorPulse temporary (8-10 washes) hair dye. I have no plans of using permanent or semi-permanent dye on my hair, but I'm curious about trying a new color (and maybe using henna in the future). Has anyone used it? I'm worried about whether or not it will run if I get caught in the rain haha!

Also, does anyone have any color suggestions? Here is a link to a pic of me... My hair is about 3 inches longer now.

I think you should decide for yourself what color you want. I would prefer very black-darkbrown/entirely black, but maybe you would rather like to have some red or blond in your hair.

Personally, I only have experience with (semi/demi)-permanent dye, which my hairdresser always did, since I have blond hair. But brown hair is the best, since you can go both ways of the color spectrum without much risk of getting some nice colors like green and blue <img src="/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" />
If you would like to do it yourself: make sure you read the instructions carefully and maybe ask a friend to help, since it will be not easy to color the back of your hair when it's your first time.

I think some form of red will probably look best with my skin tones (that picture I included in my last post wasn't the greatest haha). Thanks for the tips <img src="/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

I use L'oreal ColorSpa to color my hair. It washes out in about 28 shampoos. Unlike you, I use it to cover stray gray hairs.

I think you should go for it! Take a risk -- life is much more fun that way!

Plus, mistakes will wash out *very quickly*!

My brown hair colorings (while I have blond hair) were a risk as well, but I didn't want to turn green/blue or whatever shiny color that ahum... doesn't match my skin <img src="/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" />
So I let the hairdresser help me on this. I stopped coloring it a while ago due to a perm, but I intend to color it again to a very dark brown and even black color.

Ok - i've used ColorPulse on several occasions (different colors) and love it.

Only 2 warnings:

If you go with a color darker than your own - it takes longer than 8 shampoos to wash out.

And if you use [color:"purple"] "chilled plum"[/color] your hair will turn out purplish black and fade to a lovely lavender color. <img src="/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" /> This I know from experience. Thanks so much for sharing your experience with ColorPulse. I'm looking at the copper/red colors. I am afraid to try it because I don't want to have my hair "fixed" if something goes wrong! haha

I'm afraid I'm very "anti hair dye" and I personally would never encourage anyone to use chemcial hair dye - for reasons which wil be apparent from my website.

Hey! Thanks for the help! I really enjoyed your site, and I'm thinking about using henna at some point. There are several helpful sites out there and they're making me want to do it more and more haha.

I also did a test on a portion of my hair using the temporary hair dye that I originally asked about and it barely changed it at all due to the natural darkness of my hair. I think I'm going to go for it though!
