Vince McMahon obviously has respect for ECW brand. He probably appreciates the fact that they left a mark in the wrestling industry by doing things differently, being original, & building new stars from the ground up. Not capitalizing on the nostalgia of other stars persona that were developed from another company already like Ted Turner's WCW did & TNA of today are doing.
If you saw WWE last night and still believe Vince has respect for ECW and their legacy then we watched two different shows. He sh*t all over ECW and made them look like third rate jobbers. They ran away from the Velocity guys!!
The show centered around Vince and his a$$ and not the ECW PPV. They barely mentioned the ECW Head to Head show coming on tomorrow and they hardy pushed the PPV.
AFTER the show went off the air, they posted two matches on the site that will happen on the Wednesday show. Orton got more air time than anyone in ECW.
I think this is a very bad sign for ECW. This is just Vince's newest XFL.
I can't even begin to go into the fact that you said Turner and TNA capitalized on nostalgia and Vince doesn't. I think others may have already said more than I could (and better).
Vince effectively stole all of ECW's ideas, then stole the NWO idea and made DX. He has been trying to steal the Goldberg idea since Goldberg emerged (First with Goldberg then with a string of guys, now Lashley).
WCW had the luchadors, the finest cruiserweight division in the US. TNA has the X-Division, now the finest cruiserweight division in the US. WWE has uhhh a few guys they throw on Velocity.
TNA is responsible for making more stars just in the XDivision than WWE has been anywhere. Name one new (not in another promotion and established) star that WWE made huge since Lesnar.
There is more I could say but there is no sense in saying it. It's all perception and the whole "Vince is a genius" thing actually gets into people's brains and they believe he IS pro wrestling. While he certainly did plenty for the sport, he also is hurting it right now. Anyone who could watch last night's Raw and say Vince is doing a better job than TNA or WCW did, just isn't seeing what I saw. What a mess of a show it was.
Here's hoping they turn the promotion around somehow.
