Im Pam Lawrence, your new editor at the British Television site.

Great to see all your posts about Brit Coms; mention of some of the classics brings back great memories.

Any BlackAdder fans out there?

Id like to welcome you all to the forum, and to ask you not to be shy- lets have some fun here. Have you voted in the Robson Green Poll?

Greetings, Pam!

Glad to see we've got someone here now.

Just an FYI, by putting your email right out here in the forums, it's available for harvesters to discover it and you'll wind up with a lot of spam. That's why the editor comment box/form is set up the way it is, it keeps us spam safe.

I'll be dropping in regularly. Especially now that I might find someone else who's seen "A Fistful of Traveller's Cheques" from the Comic Strip.

I was trying to remember the name of a British sitcom I saw on satellite a while back. Maybe someone here can help!

The show was about a lady in a wheelchair, her husband and this whacko blonde hairdresser who was always trying to get her hooks into the lady in a wheelchair's husband while pretending to be the wife's pal?

Anybody remember the name? Thanks for any help.

Hi

I believe your show is Nighty Night, starring Julia Davis (also the series creator) as Jill, the man eating hairdresser who gets her claws into Don (Angus Deayton) whose wife Cath (Rebecca Front) is in a wheelchair. Comedy that's balcker than black !

It originally aired on BBC Three, and here's an episode guide: Nighty Night episode guide

Hope this helps,

Pam

YES! That was it, tellygirl. That was black humor for certain! Was it very popular with the Brits? We picked it up on the Oxygen Channel on Directv.

Hi there PublicPoliceCallBox (great name by the way )

Welcome to the forum !

I, for one, am a huge Blackadder fan. Can't quite decide which was my favourite series though- maybe the last. The WW1 setting was so perfect for the tragic/comic, and Stephen Fry hollaring 'Darling' all the time at Hugh Laurie always got me going. (although Miranda Richardson was a blast as Queen Elizabeth)

Funny about the Young Ones, I think that show is having a real revival in popularity, as it passes into the realm of 'classic' comedy. The early eighties were quite the time for Brit Coms. I think Neil and the boys certainly deserve an article...(I'd like to know what they're up to now they're the much 'older ones')

Anyone remember Not the Nine O'clock News and Alas Smith and Jones ? I used to love those two...ah..to be a teenager again !

Thanks for posting. Great to hear from you !

Hi again,

Apparently Jill Davis won a Royal Television Society Award for her performance, and the show was very well received by critics. It was one of the real 'surprise' hits of the year when it first aired in the UK in 2004.

Cheers !

Hi Pam!

I'm also a Black Adder fan (in all his wonderfully evil incarnations throughout time).

To the point, where my best friend and I still quote it at each other (especially "Who's Queen" in an attempt to win an argument).

Other faves? Well, definately 'Allo 'Allo and the Goodies.

Shall I also mention Dr Who, and all the excellent marionation programs by Gerry & Sylvia Anderso (Thunderbirds, Captain Scarlet, et al).
