Seems like we are all busy crocheting something, which is a good thing. I also noticed I need to welcome some newbies:

I've had a baby afghan in progress since before my last came along 18 months ago. I think if I finish it sometime soon, it will go to my eldest nephew for his new baby.

Okay, I'll bite. What is an Italian Heritage afghan? I have been crocheting for many, many years and do not know this one!

Hello, I am new here.

My apologies for intruding in your topic but I couldn't see where to start a new topic. I am about to go and spend a few days with a friend in Wales and she is going to be trying to teach me to crochet.

I will let you know how I get on.

God Bless

Welcome followinghim and you are not intruding, we love to get new people to the forum. Eva has some great lessons for those that are learning to crochet and also some wonderful patterns to crochet once you get the hang of it.

And just remember that everyone feels inept at first and wonders if they will be able to make anything, but don't give up and the result will be rewarding.

Nanaj - an Italian Heritage Afghan is one that is done in the three colors of the Italian flag - Red, white and green. It's a pattern that has a different name, and was done in three different yarn colors. I think it's "Mountains" something. I got it out of a book. Anyway, I live deep in Italian "country" here in West Virginia, and so that's where the Italian Heritage AFghan came from.

I'm working on this bikini top. It has the most color changes I've ever done. http://garnstudio.com/lang/en/visoppskrift.php?d-nr=95&d_id=35&lang=en
And I've just about finished working on this. Just got to put the buttons on today. http://crochetme.com/June_Jully_2005/patt_waters_edge.htm

I'm working on a version of Beth's little star afghan in variegated pastel yarn. It's so cute! My brother and his wife are expecting their first baby in November so I'm gonna be working on baby items....which brings me to a question....can I use regular worsted weight yarn for baby items or do I have to use baby yarns? thanks!

I use regular yarn for my baby afghans, but I've never done any clothes so I don't know what the "rule" is about yarn for baby clothes.

The pattern for the Italian Heritage Afghan is called "Alpine Meadows" and it is really frustrating me. I did it at Christmas, and I sure don't remember having this many problems getting started. The pattern says to chain a certain number, and then when you do the 1st row following the pattern it doesn't use all the chains. If you continue the pattern of the first row to use all the chains then the next row doesn't work out right. Argh! I've started and ripped out twice now, and I'm giving it one more chance. If I can't get it to "click" this next time then I'll give the bridal couple something else for a wedding gift. I don't need this stress!
