Tell us how you chose the name for your child. Does the name have special meaning for your family or was it something you just thought was pretty?

First kid Cathryne - named after my mother, Catherine

Second child is Emily Victoria - not names after anyone, hubby picked her name.

Third child is Jayden Diane after my husband Jason Duane. We figured 3rd kid would be last and we'd never have a son to name after him, so that was closest we could get.

GUESS WHAT! The fourth kid came not even two years later and was a boy, LOL.

his name is Liam because of the meaning (gentle protector) and his middle name is Donald after hubby's grandfather.

Boy on the way is Nicholas (after my Gf and hubby's cousin who passed away) and middle name is Garrett because I like him and it's my turn to name a child I will call him Garrett, hubby doesn't like it though.

My son Peter was named after a song of many years ago. It was called "A Man called Peter". I loved the words.

We were young and relatively poor. His parents were visiting and we all took a trip to the local fair. I fell in love with a cheap jade ring. Although I rarely asked for anything I did ask him to buy that ring for me. He said no. His mother offered to buy it for me, but it just wasn't the same.

My daughter's middle name is Jade for the ring he wouldn't buy me ....

He died two years ago (we'd been divorced for 14 years). I always wondered if he ever figured out why I named her what I did.

New here.

My daughter's name is Willow. She's named after a couple of things.

The one I tell people most often is that I wanted another tree name...my neice is named Rowan.

But really, I just watched a LOT of Buffy and thought Willow was nice and unique (I know TONS of Willows now.)
I grew up with a very common name that everyone seemed to have, so unique or "weird" names are right up my alley.

We have 5 children, and with the first, it was just a matter that we both loved the name Jalen.

With out other 4, we wanted to make sure the name mean something that glorified God. Yahnell (means gift from God), Yana (also means gift from God), Nesyah (means miracle from God) and Josiah (means God heals).

Both mom and dad have very curly hair, so the little one was named Cassidy which means the girl with the curly hair!

DD's first name is the name of a character from the Silmarillion by JRR Tolkien. DH had been a Tolkien fan his whole life and I really enjoyed it, too, but with the books we didn't want Arwen or something else easily identifiable to yahoos who'd only seen the movie.

Her middle name is my best childhood friend's name with the letters rearranged: Mya.

My daughter's name is Syanne Claire. Syanne... I heard it in a movie and thought it was pretty. Problem is I can't seem to find a meaning for it and Claire is my grandmother's name. We were very close. Oh, and I would appreciate any help I can get with finding the meaning of Syanne or any stories of people with the same problem.
