I've had three, and if we ever have another, have been told to expect a fourth. Have you had a c-section? How many? Why?

Hi everyone,

I had my first C with ds 5 years ago- it was an emergency, not progressing in labour, baby was v big, I'm very small etc.

My dd was born by C section 2 and a half years ago- I was worried about a repeat of my first labour.

Going in for # 3 on August 28th !

Can say I've healed very well, no complications, and am still nursing my dd !

Good luck (and don't worry) to other C section mums.

Hugs

My first was a c-section, she was a week overdue and at birth weighed 9lbs 4 oz. This was back in the 80's and after the surgery I was confined to bed for a couple of days and was so sore and stiff that I had a horrible time getting back up. I was in the hospital for a week. I have a scar that runs from hip bone to hip bone.

When I was pregnant with my son I asked my dr if I could try natural child birth. He promised to let me try but told me that when you have contractions they are so violent that it could rip open the old scar from the first c-section. I don't know if that is true or not. Turned out I had to have a c-section as my son wouldn't come when he was supposed to.

My daughter had a c-section and I was amazed at the size of the incision! I don't know how they got my grandaugher out of that small spot! And she was up walking around a couple of hours later. I asked the dr. where he was when I was having babies! Boy have times and procedures changed!

Hi yall,

Thanks for chiming in with your experiences...the entire subject of cesarean, verses vaginal birth, is wrought with emotion.

Thank you again for putting your 2 cents in...

I've had 2--one surprise (son wouldn't descend into the pelvis after 24 hours of labor) and one planned (baby girl is 18 months now). The second was better than the first--spinal and not epidural (no migraines the second time and no months worth of back pain). None of the hospitals in my area permit VBAC.

I've had 3 sections, first one was failure to progress, possible CPD, second was mandatory, (hosp. didn't allow VBAC), third one was an attempted VBAC, baby's head was facing my hip instead or front or back. I'd give anything to have a VBAC, at home. As for possibility of uterus rupturing, that is less than 1%. Tubes have been tied, so I just settle for reading birth stories.
