LOL, my ex and I used to do that too--we'd smirk at each other and say, "gee, we'll never have to worry about that...."

And of course, there are plenty of times when I go past the "baby aisle" (i.e diapers, formula, etc.) at the grocery store and think, "HAHAHAHAHA I'll never have to go down that aisle!!" (In reality I do because sometimes they also put the no-baby stuff--i.e. pads and such--down that aisle, but still...)

I'll tell you what else reinforces my decision - getting into the car (or more likely giant SUV or minivan) of a Mommy and not being able to sit on the seat without getting covered in spit-up Cheerios and other unidentifiable baby-manufactured goo. Yuck yuck yuck!

Sorry - I've got a little PTSD from the group lunch we embarked on earlier today...I was wedged up against the car seat. It smelled funny - who knows what's been going on in there?

when you do yo work do you get the guilt trip on how you should cover for them because her kids is sick and the kid is sick every weekend? and you have to do more than your share because every one else has kid and there so tired? thats on of the reasons i quit my job and now starting my own busiess!!! I got called every 5 min. on my day (not days)off and had to work 16 hr shifts so mommies can spend time with kids. then hear how over worked and under paid they are and they make more then me but i should be my helpful and acessable for them because i dont have kids there for dont deserve the right to my own life. I was a nurse aid at anursing home and when your releaf dont show up you cant leave by law.

Absolutely. I often have coworkers asking me to finish assignments for them because they have to leave: their kid is sick, or has a soccer game, or they want to help out in his classroom. I supervise a pool of paralegals and one of them asked me to change the time of our weekly status meeting because it was interfering with her breast pumping schedule (didn't happen). And I've mentioned this on other threads, but I had a coworker - who had just returned from a six month maternity leave - sniping about how she better not be penalized for having a baby when it came time to determine our annual PERFORMANCE BASED bonuses. Hello? You were MIA half the year and you expect the same compensation as those of us who were here doing not only our own jobs, but yours as well? And her maternity leave was really more like eight months since she spent her first couple months back at work crying about leaving her kid in child care - and not getting any work done. (She's the one with the messy car.)

For me, it was an older van my mom bought from a cousin of mine....the thing was NASTY. She found all sorts of nasty [censored] in it from my cousin's kids--food and candy and sticky [censored] all over. YUCK.

It was that experience exactly that made me point my ex away from a used car that belonged to someone who had kids--he looked at the picture of it and practically the first thing I saw was a car seat in the backseat. I said "oh, honey, that car belongs to people with a small child....no way, pass it by."

Er, no. I don't hang out with people that get [censored]-drunk, first off. Second--no way would they have any sort of anything that could get spilled in my car! Yipe.

And besides, all my drinking was done at college (because all my friends were in college), so there was nowhere to go, except for the time we walked the whole *two blocks* across campus to my ex's dorm to get more wine. <img src="/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />
