Hi Everyone! I'm new here and just wanted to say Hello. I am so happy to find this forum. My husband is in the Air Force and we are the only people at this base, that we know of, who don't have kids. You can't imagine how many times I get the dreaded question...say it with me...why don't you have kids? Like most of you I hate when that happens. Lately, i just look at them for a silent moment and then ask them a question or just speak to someone else. So far, so good. I resent the implication that they have the right to ask the question and that i have an obligation to answer it.
My most hated action by women with kids?...the boob show in public, especially when I am at dinner with my husband. I can only surmise that they are exhibitionists because I know that pumps are available at most stores. What is the point of this and why do i have to share the moment with them? ICK!
So, that is my hello and my rant! HA!! Happy Wednesday. [color:"blue"] [/color]

Hi there! It's nice to meet you!
I'm sure you'll find a lot of like-minded people here. I'm fairly new here as well, and I've really enjoyed reading the forums and chatting with other Childfree people here.
I strongly recommend reading the articles posted on the main Married no Kids site (separate from the forums); there's a lot of great material there.
I have a question. Where are you located? I understand that in the military they can move you just about any place. I ask because so far, it seems like this board is international; I am posting from the U.S. but I have seen that other people here are posting from Australia, Canada, the UK, France, Germany, Japan, and many other places. (Sorry if I forgot to mention your country!)
Rest assured that wherever you are stationed, there are bound to be some Childfree people around somewhere!

Heya! I'm an Air Force wife as well. And we're childfree. And yes, it does seem like the vast majority of the military couples are popping out kids, but I've actually been fortunate enough to find a couple other like-minded folks.
We also get that dreaded question all the time, and people look at us like we have three heads when we tell them we have no desire for kids.
Nice to have you aboard!

Hey You Guys! Thanks for the welcomes. I was really nervous about posting anything because I am not a good computer person. That said, you'll all have to understand if i do everything wrong for awhile. HA!
Xantres, we are in Holland. This is our third overseas assignment in the last ten years and we are still behind on our list of places to go and things to see. We are retiring after this and are trying to decide where to go. How does one choose a place to live when you have the whole country to pick from? Thank God for the internet! HA!
Karyn, where are you stationed? And how did you find another CF couple? I gave up asking here when i met a woman about my age in the library the other day. She asked if I had any and I said no. Before i could say anything else she went into a big explanation of why she doesn't have any YET. I just nodded and excused myself as soon as i could.
Thanks again everyone

2Blue: how exciting, to be able to live in so many different places!
When you do retire, you're not limited to just one place. You could try out different places. If frequent moves aren't your bag, you could have a modest home somewhere and travel a lot. That's one of the beautiful things about being childfree -- no kids to keep track of, so you can go wherever you want!
And about the library incident: I am so sorry! It makes me SO uncomfortable when people do that. Gee, couldn't people just talk about the weather or something? But hey, at least I know better...from having known so many childfree and people with other non-mainstream lifestyles, I know now which questions and topics to avoid. It is off-limits to ask about kids or significant others; people have so many different situations it's just dangerous to ask unless you really know the person. It seems better to talk about the weather...or books, since you were in a library!
The kids question = NOT an icebreaker
Anyway, I hope you have better luck with that in the future, and I hope you're enjoying Holland! ^_^

I'm right at the Dutch border...at Geilenkirchen NATO Air Base. Where are you? AFNORTH? That's the only place I can think of. HAHAHA. Wouldn't that be hilarious? As for how I met another CF couple...it just happened by chance. I met this woman (who reads the Married No Kids site, by the way) and she told me that she and her husband don't plan to have kids. It was just one of those things that came up in conversation. I don't know who mentioned it first. And I have another friend here who doesn't plan to have kids, but her husband has a son from a previous marriage. If you want, email me. Go to my site at English Culture and leave me a message.

Hey There 2Blue!
My husband is in the Army National Guards (probably not as cool as the Air Force) Anyway, I know what you are going through! My husband and I go through the same thing! My husband and I have gotten to the point where we say "We just don't like kids" you should see their expressions!! Of course, we do like kids in moderation however, it gets them to laugh, and we don't have to answer the damn question!
Keep posting! This forum has been a great place to voice my opinions and feelings! I love it!

Hello 2Blue...the public "boob show" icks me out as well. It's still your breast, regardless of what you may be doing with it at the moment. And while I'm not a total prude when it comes to nudity, boobs that are being used for breastfeeding are not at their finest!
I was at a seminar today and the husband of one of the women attending brought their baby so she could breastfeed it....while sitting right next to me, of course. At the end of the seminar she and I were introduced....and I really wanted to say, "Gee, it's nice to know your name being as that I've already seen you half-naked and all...."
Mother always said that even when things seem bad there's someone else who's having a worse day. Like being stung by a bee or getting a splinter or being chained to the wall in someone's sex dungeon.
