forcegx,

I agree somewhat with your statement. If you are a very good wrestler who knows how to work, and you bring your mic skills and personality up to a good level, you will have more success. You have to have several dimensions to really succeed. Where I veer from you on Benoit is he does a pretty good job in those fields. Is he a good promo guy? I have seen better, but he isn't too shabby there. Where you might think on it a little more would be the fact that the wrestler in question has to be involved in a good angle too. Benoit sometimes finds himself without push, or a very good one.Like Patty said above, UT is scheduled to wrestle a program with Khali, so he has to pull his weight, and that of the less skilledKhali as well. Where the UT might have a decent match with Khali, a testament to 'Takers skill, you have to wonder how much a better match he could have with a more skilled worker. Benoit is on my short list of truly skilled and technical wrestlers with a mastery. Bottom line is, you have to have the luck of good bookings and push as well. I respect your opinion however.

It cracks me up when the crowd shout "What?" during Khalis promos!

Mr. Ice cracked up laughing during Kane/Big Show's "Technical match" on this weeks RAW because it was so slow paced. The crowd even started boring chants, but I liked it because at least they're trying to do something different.

Yeah Technical until Kane brought out a steel chair and technically caved Big Show's skull in

Miss Ice,

Well, Mr Ice might have been laughing at Kane and Show, and the action might have slow as well, but an over 500 pound human being, and a over 300 pound human being doing technical stuff, that was awsome. You are a worker, you know how rapid fire monkeys can get a little bit confusing, but to see Show doing it, he earned a lot more of respect from me.

I thought Kane and Show did a great job at working a completely different style of match. I knew Kane had it in him but didn't realize Show did. I applaud them.

I think every wrestler should know basic wrestling moves and holds. It just makes everything more believable. Those who have the basics feel more real to me than those who only have one moveset and don't veer.

As far as benoit goes, he doesn't need to be a character. he is well respected for his toughness, skill, and no nonsense attitude. Let us never forget when they forced Lance Storm to have a personality (He danced and then talked about his large member. *groan*).

Some guys are better off doing their talking in the ring. I don't think I have ever been bored with a Benoit match.

However, of course having skill, good mic skills, and charisma is the ultimate but very few have all three. The oneshwo have the mic skills and charisma, generally aren't the best wrestlers. HBK is the exception as are some others like Angle of course.

I like some characters, some grapplers, some great promo guys, and a combo of all three when I can get it.

I think what a lot of the fans don't know is just how much wrestling works off a certain group of moves. At wrestling school we get in the ring and do headlocks, takeovers, kicking out, arm drags, arm bars, reversals...over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over again. Colonel DeBeers actually calls out "Headlock, take over, kick out headlock, arm bar, reversal..." over and over until you can't see straight. Believe it or not but EVERYTHING you do in the ring, from the basics of basic, to the most complicated of high spots works of those few moves.

It's actually like that in a lot of sports there is a basic move set and you expand from there. In wrestling as Patty said if everyone can sell the basic moves then at the very least the match is watchable.

Spot on Mickieboy. A lot of people don't realize it. But some still can't tell the difference between a hammer lock and a headlock. But I am learning. LOL

I must disagree with the earlier call on Hogan. Hogan 'could' wrestle. He just chose not to very often. Still, I clearly remember him pulling out a move or two that had me pretty shocked. The thing with Hogan was that he pulled out those 'other' wrestling moves so rarely you didn't even know he could do it. (Does that make sense?).

Hogan's pretty old now. but he can still go (at least to a degree that belies his age anyway). Thats more than you can say about most fella's his age who gave way too much of themselves and had to retire early.

Now before you all throw rocks and stones, I would rather see a real wrestler the likes of Benoit or Angle anyday. And Big dudes such as Show, Undies Taker and Kane can indeed put on a better match than dead woods like Mark Henry and this Khali cahracter. Lets see if he's still here and any better after six months.

As for Hogan. Give the bloke some respect. He's no tech genius, but he could and did wrestle. (sometimes <img src="/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" /> )
